For more than a decade, Athens Chiropractic Healthcare has been helping patients to obtain a pain-free lifestyle. In 2004, Dr. Joel Groft first opened the doors to ACH with the mission to provide the Athens area community with a conservative health care option. We are a general family practice that combines spinal manipulation with muscular therapy, rehabilitation, and preventative methods.
Dr. Carl Mankiewicz is a board certified Chiropractic Physician who grew up in Canada and New Hampshire, and relocated to Athens, GA. When he was a teenager, Dr. Carl sought chiropractic care for back and shoulder pain he experienced due to her participation in competitive running and rowing. He was impressed with how chiropractic care relieved his pain without the use of drugs and surgery. This is what inspired him to pursue a career as a chiropractor. Dr. Carl has long been involved in athletics, health, and nutrition.

Final Update: I've switched my healthcare to the VA, and they are assigning me a chiropractor of their choice. So I wanted to leave a final review. Being in my 40's and having lived all over the U.S., I've had many healthcare providers, some good and some not so good. Dr. Groft has been one of the best. I think you will find him to be warm and friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and skillful.
He's the kind of person who brings out the best in everyone. His employees seem genuinely happy to work for him, and he doesn't sell products for a large markup like some other practices - I'm not even sure he sells products at all actually (though he was able to suggest one I needed once, and where to find it affordably). His technique is so gentle that it hardly seems you are getting an adjustment.
So if you're new to chiropractic care, or thinking of switching providers, I think he would be a great choice. Update: I've now been coming to this practice for almost 8 years, and Dr. Groft is still the best. He genuinely cares about his clients, is ethical in his practices, and I swear he has magic hands. Cannot recommended this practice enough!
I have moved several times over the years and been to many chiropractors. The chiropractors here are the best and most thorough. They're both really nice people too, who are warm and helpful. I never have to wait long when I arrive for an appointment, and the one time I needed an emergency adjustment they were able to get me in right away. I highly recommend them!

I didn't receive any kind of real evaluation until months in when I saw someone other than Dr. Groft. Whoever that was immediately noticed issues with the mobility in one of my hips and I would have loved if I could have seen him first so maybe I could have spent money on real solutions. Every time I went in, Dr. Groft would bring up something about what I was wearing or ask me a question, and then respond with how much he disagreed with me on a matter I never asked about and had nothing to do with the appointment.
It felt like I was going in to be criticized. The appointments felt like we were just going through the motions of a visit but I was being told to go in often. Waste of my time and money. Location is convenient.
