The Chiropractic Associates, LLC was established in 1997 on Prince Street in Old Town Alexandria. Over the last 23 years we have moved twice throughout Old Town and are currently practicing in North Old Town at 1240 North Pitt Street. Our location is convenient for easy access throughout the area and plenty of parking.
We are a traditional family chiropractic office that specializes in the correction of the spine and extremities. The human nerve system is directly responsible for the functioning of our bodies and the level of health that we express. As chiropractors we balance the spine through vertebral adjustments to ensure the nerve system is free of interference.
We will first welcome you to our office and you will fill out the standard paperwork. You can print out the forms under the patient's tab and fill it out at home to save some time. The doctor will sit down with you and go over your case history and review any reports, x-rays or MRI's that you may have brought with you.

I've been going to Dr Sean since I was 6 years old, and now I'm 18. I am an athlete who is in constant need of adjustment, and he's been helping me to get adjustment, to change my diet, and to get better with my overall health. My mom and I have been going to him for a very long time. I highly recommend him, and he is the best holistic nutritionist in the nations.

I recommend him for adjustment, or if you're ready to make a change in your life. Doctor Sean is so invested in seeing his patients do better that it hurts him deeply to see his patients repeat the behaviors that CAUSE their pain. He is the kindest person however he absolutely will not sugar coat your diagnosis.

Once upon a time I would give TCA 5 stars, but no longer. I saw Sean Woods for neck and back pain for a few years and was a willing participant to align with his views about adjusting nutrition to improve overall health. While he gave the "hard truth", he was also consistently professional, kind and worked to meet me, as the patient, where I was at and I saw improvements and made changes to my lifestyle.

My most recent visit however, found Sean to be arrogant, self-righteous and only interested in promoting his book. He said the singular reason for my back pain was nutrition. Of course, his diet consists of little more than fruit and he admonishes anyone who eats anything else, including foods like raw almonds. When my session was over, and I said "I am still in pain.", he said with arrogance and angst, "yea well, you SHOULD be".

That is a direct quote. I "should" be in pain as though I deserve pain since I stopped spending my paycheck at his office? Or because I had eggs for breakfast not a blueberry. By the way, after his "adjustment", I found myself in the ER unable to walk with a herniated disc. Likely the herniation was there first, but his negative energy and "corrections", which were excessively rough, despite my complaints, exacerbated the problem that could have been helped with physical therapy. At one point, he even said ("oh I'm being mean I will go easier").

Dr Sean is fantastic. We travel a long way to get to him because he provides such exceptional diagnoses and care--Both nutritional and Chiro. We credit him with turning around my partners declining health. Definitely see him and do what he says--it works.

I would warn any veteran to avoid this business like the plague. While on paper they are signed up to support disabled veterans with the Veteran's Choice program this is not the case. I was scheduled to receive treatment with this organization only to learn that the doctors there don't honor Veterans' Choice and never have - but they sure advertise it.

I was on a two way phone call with their scheduling manager and the Veteran's Choice case agent last Friday and the office manager admitted they didn't support us. Sad to see that an office that claims to be dedicated to healing and providing relief from pain doesn't bother to support the 1% of us that volunteered to serve our country. Chiropractic Associates of Alexandria.shame on you.

To date I've been adjusted by five different chiropractors, and I just had about 4 appointments with Sean today. Overall I don't agree with his methodology of nutrition and supplementation. Maybe there is some science to it, but it's seems a bit misleading to me. I think if you are "very locked up" Sean is great. I think when consider an integrated practice (what else you might doing), Sean still has some things to learn. As is the case with most Chiropractors, adjustments are very temporary unless you are using others methods to strengthen the muscles to keep the posture.

Have been coming here for 10 years. Dr. Sean Woods always helps me with my back pain etc. This was after being diagnosed by a M.D. Neurologist for herniated discs and not being a surgical candidate, he recommended chiropractic care.

Dr Sean Woods helped me feel so much better and stronger. I went to him to assist me with improving and healing my gut. I was skeptical but after six months of adjustments and supplements I am a new man. After years of digestive issues I am back to well bring. Dr Sean a knowledgable and gifted practitioner is someone you should give a try if you are interested in wellness.

I love Chiropractic Associates. They are very professional, knowledgeable and meet my needs. Chronic issues or acute. They always meet my needs. Dr Sean Woods is VERY kind and an expert in helping my body move normally and without pain. He has worked on all of my babies from the time right after they were born, through childhood bumps and bruises, athletic endeavors and lifelong health. Dr Michelle Woods is a breath of fresh air.

She always has a smile on her face and is willing to tackle any challenge. The office staff is nice and the atmosphere is soothing, friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend them!

Dr. Sean has helped me so much over the last 5 years as I've struggled with various issues related to two pregnancies, c-sections, breastfeeding, and now carrying around my big toddler. He's even helped me with my son's undescended testicle. I don't know how I would have gotten by without him. Highly recommend.

I loved it when Dr. Andrea P. was there. She was so awesome. I made an appt. for yesterday and I was very disappointed to find out that she was no longer there. So I went ahead and went to Dr. Andrino F., but he was so impersonal and cold that now I am on a quest to find where Dr. Andrea went.

As a follow up to my review posted April, 2013 I should add that after my unfavorable experience with Sean Woods I sought advise and treatment from another highly recommended chiropractor. On the first visit with him he told me that based on my symptoms and his vast experience in treating patients with similar pain that he would diagnose my condition as a herniated disc in my lower back, and specifically L5-S1.

He wrote me an order for an MRI to fully evaluate my condition, and guess what? He was absolutely correct. The MRI revealed a herniation of the L5 vertebra with a severe compression of the S1 nerve root. Within a few weeks of the MRI I had located a brilliant young neurosurgeon in Dallas, TX who scheduled me for surgery in July, 2013 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

The OUTPATIENT procedure that was done to correct my injury was a minimally invasive micro discectomy and I awoke from the anesthesia PAIN FREE! It's now one year later and I remain pain free and my quality of life has been restored. Sean Woods told me more than once that surgery was a drastic, last resort option; he warned me of the low efficacy rate of back surgery and told me that he could "fix my problem." The truth is, no chiropractor could fix my problem.

Surgery was my only option, and I'm ever grateful to the chiropractor who knew that and treated me honestly and fairly with his objective being to restore my health, to unburden me from constant pain and not for how many office visits he could squeeze out of me or how many food supplements he could sell me. Current medical technology and procedures are so far-advanced from the old school methods that Sean Woods references and warns against.

If you suffer from sciatic pain, do yourself a favor and get an MRI. If you have a herniated disc no amount of chiropractic treatment or nutritional supplements will heal you.

Never thought that I would see a "Chiropractor" for a chronic illness. I have been seeing Dr. Sean for the past few months and I am slowly improving, day by day. He's also teaching me about health and nutrition which makes me less anxious about the things that are going on with my body. Best place to be if you have the wiliness to get well!

WATCH OUT for "Doctor" Sean, as the ladies call him. My spouse saw this joker for lower back pain several times, with the condition getting progressively worse. When the condition reached the point where she couldn't get out of bed, she called him several times for advice, guidance, etc. We never heard from him. Ever. Even though he lived just down the street from us. "Dr" Sean is happy to offer you his "holistic" approach, as long as you are NOT truly hurting -- at that point he's like the snake oil salesman who bolts town with a posse on his heels.

Surgery and two years of rehab have put my wife back on her feet, thanks to physicians who took care of the patient and stayed in touch through the tough times. So, you might be able have a beer with "Doctor" Sean and say "hello" at the community pool, but stay away if you have back problems.

Never in a million years did I ever think I would be seeing a chiropractor, much less on a regular basis. After trying out another chiropractor, a friend recommended to me Dr. Andrino. I called them up on a Friday after my sciatic pain was so bad I was limping around and in immense pain. Unfortunately I couldn't make it in (though they would have seen me), so I went in on Saturday morning - first thing.

When I got there, though I didn't know it at the time, Dr. Andrino asked me how I was doing and when I told him he basically said do the paperwork later, lets take a look. Though he did do an adjustment on the back - it was really more the sacral-iliac joint that was out of wack (I guess I'm just a little off - Gregg M always tells me that anyway).

He proceeded to put me straight again and then began doing trigger point pressure to help relieve the pain. He explained to me why I was having the problem I was having and gave me exercises to do to hep stretch out the muscle that was causing a lot of the problem. I've gone four times now and each time I'm a little better and I have actually had days where I'm pain free (which is always a plus). The staff is friendly and have also worked me in when I needed to go. I can't say enough good about Dr. Andrino and I highly recommend him.

The building itself is a little tricky to find, but parking is easy, and it's easy to get in and out from the GW Parkway. I went for an hour massage session with Nichole Danraj whom I highly recommend. She explained the different massage techniques and applied different techniques on different areas, including massaging my calves and quads with a hot stone - which was awesome.

She is very professional, energetic, and clearly has an understanding of the complex interworking of the human muscle system. She obviously loves her job and takes her work seriously. She has a relaxed manner and is upbeat, personable, and sensitive to painful or tender areas. She did not try to sell me anything or pressure me into buying anything. I highly recommend her to anyone.
