Jordan (he/him) graduated from Bowdoin College in 1981 with a BA in Psychology. In 1997 he completed his Masters in Acupuncture from the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture, obtaining his Washington state license (#432) in 1998. In 1999, Jordan completed a three month silent meditation retreat at Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts and subsequently moved to India where he spent the next two years studying Buddhist meditation and philosophy at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives in Dharamsala, India.
CommuniChi does not receive grants from foundations, state or federal government, or insurance reimbursement. CommuniChi exists because patients pay for their treatments and refer their friends and family - it is a sustainable community business model. CommuniChi is a social business. By paying at the highest level you can afford, I am able to serve a wider community.
Acupuncture is a process. It is unrealistic to expect your problem to resolve after one treatment. In China, a typical treatment protocol for a chronic condition could be acupuncture every other day for three months! Most people don't require that much acupuncture, but virtually every patient requires a course of treatment, which can vary in length and frequency.
CommuniChi's new space is at 2109 31st Ave. S. Walk up the driveway (or use the steps) and turn right, following the signs. The entrance is on the ground floor at the rear of the house (wheel chair accessible). Bus: The #14 trolley bus stops a block away on 31st. The #8 stops four blocks away on MLK Jr.

Jordan is a very skilled healer in every sense of the word. I began going to Communichi for skin flare ups & saw immediate results, which was impressive as even an extremely clean diet wasn't having much effect. At Communichi I feel an immediate wave of relaxation wash over me and can feel the energy flowing. The atmosphere is serene and has really positive vibes. I feel restored after a session here.

I have been visiting this place for acupuncture since April 2019 for sleep issues initially. My sleep has gradually getting better and now I am going there for hypothyroid issues. Acupuncture is a slow, natural, and incremental healing process that result will be there with patience and regular sessions. The price is so reasonable compared to other practitioners.

What I like about this place is that the owner never tries to upsell or package sell anything, period. The space is not stylish, but it is clean and comfortable with a bargain basement price and a top-notch healing session! Highly recommend for people who are price-conscious while wanting to have high quality acupuncture healing sessions.

I wanted acupuncture during my pregnancy to help with relexation and started seeing Jordan when I was 3 months pregnant up until I gave birth in December. I like Jordan's calming energy and attentiveness. He checks in with me to see how I was feeling or if there was something I wanted to address. I always left feeling refreshed and grounded. I booked early morning appointments so I could carry that feeling with me throughout my day. It is a group setting but once I got in my chair and zoned out, I didn't even notice anyone else. I recommend communichi to everyone!

Jordan has created a comfortable community healing space with comfortable recliners, soft meditation music, lighting, and plants. He has a gift to bring balance to the daily stresses and tension you carry in your body. Jordan will do a quick check-in and place the needles exactly where it needs to be to unblock the stressors in your body. I wish I could go more often!

Never had acupuncture done before so why not?! Scheduling wasn't difficult, just filling out online. Be sure to screenshot your password! Wasn't too hard to locate, I can imagine parking sucks between and after 5pm-6pm as this is a residential area. Came early to find parking and Jordan greeted me while I was YouTubing in my car and actually let me in early. Jordan is a very chill and laid back gentlemen, soft spoken voice and knowledgable in what he does. Took a rest in the seat and he went away with the prickling of the needles.

I was at first bummed since I couldn't listen to my own personal relaxation music, but I'm glad I didn't since the soundtrack Jordan has in the background is a very tranquil mix Only down side is once you feel like you're ready to leave, you have no way of contacting Jordan till he comes by for his checkup to see how you're doing.

You can seldomly hear his family upstairs, but they know to be quiet during sessions, didn't bother me at all for connecting to my inner ninja-chi. Plus I was so relaxed, it didn't get in the way of reaching nirvana. All in all, try this guy! Great deal of 10sessions for $190, $19 a session!

FINALLY found the perfect acupuncture location. Jordan is a lovely presence with great energy, and the sliding scale means I can actually afford multiple visits. The $190 for ten sessions is a FANTASTIC deal. It is a group setting which I actually like because you get other people's energy. Try Communichi - it's the best! Plus it's an uber-cute name!

I have been going here steadily for almost 4 years now. It is the only thing that keep my tendinitis pain at bay. Jordan is such a calming person it is always a joy to come here. The online system is SUPER easy to use which helps. I don't have to call I can just click online and book a appointment. Side note: Jordan does not accept insurance and he does so for a great reason.

He wants acupuncture to be available to everyone, and not just the insured. He is such a generous good person. This is seriously the a absolute best place for acupuncture in Seattle.

Laid back, easy to schedule online, Jordan is very kind and gentle, higher end sliding scale; overall this is a great place well worth checking out. It has relocated from its previous location (yelp address is accurate) and is now only run by Jordan but the space is welcoming and comfortable.

Really amazing place- easy, healthy and affordable way to relieve stress. Once you close your eyes, you won't even notice the shared room. Lots of beautiful plants, comfortable chairs and daylight to make this a relaxing space. Highly recommend.

I have been going here off and on for a couple of years now. Lately, I have been going regularly due to back, neck and knee pain. I had been to a chiropractor for my back and had so so results. Now, after a few sessions my back, knees and neck (especially my neck) are feeling much better. Since it is a community acupuncture clinic, the fees are very reasonable (sliding scale) as one practitioner is able to treat more than one patient, but do not let that dissuade you as they are passionate and skilled in acupuncture. I recommend this place to all of my friends. I expect more will come when they can get past the idea of needles (no pain at all, really)

I love Communichi for so many reasons. 1. The practioners, they're all great, but I love Sam. You should see Sam ASAP, he is amazing. Soft spoken and easy to talk with. Several times his work has taken away my aches or pains in just one session. 2. I don't have to lie face down to get great effective accupuncture. Face down just isn't comfortable for me, I get antsy and can't relax but in an easy chair I'm snoring in minutes. 4.

The space is lovely, warm and so peaceful. It feels great to be in big beautiful room receiving this great healing with others. Maybe it seems weird to receive treatment in the company of others but it's not, it's delightful. 5. The price, Communichi is a community accupuncture clinic with the desire to serve all in the community and I love that.

Even though I have insurance I prefer to come here, for the price of my co-pay somewhere else I can pay in full and feel like I'm supporting a great place. Get yourself to Communichi, try Sam if you can, you'll be happy you did!

I've been going to communichi consistently for about 6 months now. I primarily have acupuncture from Jordan and Sam and both of them are excellent healers. They both have very different energy and practice slightly differently but with either of them I come out feeling rejuvenated and relaxed! I must go here a lot because I'm currently the mayor on foursquare last I checked. I would recommend anyone looking for both affordable, friendly, intentional healing go here and visit one of their practitioners.

This is one of the most amazing healing spaces in Seattle, the staff, the experience is that of being wrapped in healing love. Jordan is a gifted healer, and lives a life that walks the walk and talks the talk. Give yourself a treat and visit Communichi in Beacon HIll it will be the first of many. Thank you Rev.

I have osteo-arthritis in my knees and thumbs (both joints). This started between 12 and 15 years ago and has worsened gradually, recently becoming very painful in my thumbs. It interferes with many activities. I live an active life-style with gardening, swing-dancing and usually working out 5 days a week. This September at age 65, I took up tap dancing.

This is something I have wanted to do for many years; and I decided this year it is now or never. Although skeptical I decided to try acupuncture for the joints in my knees and ankles. I went on- line and found CommuniChi on Beacon Hill. I tried it out at twice a week for a month and then weekly - for maintenance. Even though I am tapping daily, with hour - long lessons twice weekly, I have had no trouble with my knees or ankles, with one exception.

Due to snow and Thanksgiving, I had skipped my weekly session twice. That week-end my left knee became very painful. On Monday I had a treatment session, the pain left and has not returned. I have continued with my tap dancing with no interruption. Added bonuses: recently I realized that the joint stiffness I had found creeping in over the past 2 years or so is much diminished.

I can sit in the car, at table or at the computer for an hour or more and get up with no stiffening in my lower extremities. What a wonderful and unexpected benefit! And amazingly, recently my thumb pain is diminishing. This benefit just started so I am increasing back up to twice weekly sessions until it is more improved. Jordan Van Voast, who is a founder and the main acupuncturist at CommuniChi has a wonderful manner. He is skilled both in acupuncture and communication. The community treatment room is spacious, yet cozy. You can read more about it on their web-site.

What a wonderful find! Acupuncture has previously been nearly miraculous in helping me with a serious health challenge and I decided that I'd like to start seeing an acupuncturist regularly on a more preventative basis---you know, get the chi flowing properly so I don't have to actually get *sick* and all that. I'm so glad I found Communichi!

I can afford to come here often enough to receive a benefit (even though i am currently unemployed) and the treatments are excellent. Communichi provides excellent care and is committed to making that care accessible to as many members of the community as possible; exactly what we need more of these days in health care. I'm enthused about Communichi not only because I feel that I receive real benefit from the expertly-administered treatments but also because I believe that the practitioners have cultivated real compassion and humility as healers---a rare thing to see these days.

Instead of obtaining knowledge of the healing art of acupuncture and deciding to open an expensive medi-spa or high-end clinic, they became part of a movement that is focused on bringing acupuncture to as many people as possible through sliding-scale pricing, education, and community outreach. They are involved in the life of the community, attend to important political dimensions of health care delivery, and provide excellent care.

To me, that attitude is the mark of a true healer, and that's the kind of practitioner I want to work with and support financially. If you're at all curious about acupuncture, or if you're in need of affordable care that

I've heard about acupuncture in the past and honestly I thought of it as something to relax you and thus make your other issues get better. I was chatting with a friend about an issue and she said her partner knew of a great community acupuncturist that might be able to help. I took the advice fairly lightly but later thought what the hell.it can't hurt to try.

I saw Jordan at Communichi and after two sessions my issue got better. I still thought it was probably some after effect of being more relaxed. I was in Portland and tried another community acupuncture place and did not have nearly the same results, I felt like I was just laying in a chair. Anyways, to make a long story short I think acupuncture does do something more than relax but you have to go to somebody good.

The cost is VERY VERY affordable (~$20 and then $15 for repeat visits) and you can make appointments online so if you ever wanted to try acupuncture I would recommend going to Communichi. You are sitting in a large room with others and about 15 plants but you are really in your own space so don't be scared. I go fairly often and I think at most there have been 5 other people in the room but I think there are ~14 super comfy chairs in total. The whole place is a bit hippy happy so be prepared for pan flute and other new age music and super relaxed happy go lucky people.

Community acupuncture is awesome. I love Communichi's space. Inside of the beautiful Centro de la Raza, the treatment room has beautiful plants, comfy chairs and big windows to gaze out at the clouds while you're being treated and drifting off into that good acupuncture land between dreaming and waking. I have only good things to say and can't wait to go back for more affordable acupuncture!

My 4 children and I have been going to accupuncture for many years, and have found it has helped or even cured many ailments and dis-eases - many considered chronic (epilepsy, asthma and lupus to name 3). While I would recommend a much more vigorous and comprehensive regimen of accupuncture for actual 'curing' of dis-ease, regular treatments WILL ease symptoms, and KEEP you healthy. I, and my children are very comfortable at communichi.

I fall asleep every time during my treatment - it truly has an amazing atmosphere! I go all winter to prevent the winter blues I get here, as I am a transplant from a much sunnier locale. Appointments are super simple to make on-line, and they e-mail a reminder to you. I highly recommend Communichi to everyone. Enjoy your healthy future!

I had been to accupuncture before, on the Eastside in a private clinic and had seen and spoken with the Accupunturist at my former massage therapists office, but neither were affordable options, especially during this recession and having lost health benefits. One was clinical and I laid in the dark, but myself, wondering when or if she was coming back.

The session helped, but I wasn't anymore educated that when I went in. The other was more spa like, and though lovely, I felt like I was paying for a spa service, when what I really wanted was something that was sustainable. I am OVERJOYED to have found CommuniChi and can't recommend it highly enough. The energy, the environment is humming with healing and peace. It's simple, but feels abundant. It's public (meaning there are sometimes 10 people in the space with you), but feels private - it's quite, peaceful, and the light is just right (not dark, not bright).

In the reception room they have tea and water, books to read more, and a place to just chill so you can gather yourself before you head back into the world. I've never had an issue with parking even with the Light Rail construction and really no noise issues (which I expected with construction) to disrupt the peace. Because it's so afforabable one can go on a regular basis and really reap the benefits (I had only imagined before) of a sustainable healing practice. Jordan and Serena built an amazing community space of healing and I'm looking forward to supporting them for years to come.

My massage therapist had recommended this place to me and I had never tried accupuncture before. I was having problems sleeping and thought this might help "unblock" some energy. I believe it really helped. I suppose it doesn't matter if you believe in eastern medicine, but I know that each session at communichi, I feel like I sleep for hours. :
