Services
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specializes in body-focused psychotherapy, integrating talk therapy and body-focused therapy into my practice. After 30+ years in practice in the Decatur & Atlanta area, my commitment to and enthusiasm for my work continues to deepen and grow. Every day I get to draw from all that I have learned, blending it together in a unique way that allows me to attend to you as the individual that you are.
We all want to live our lives with relative ease, feeling strong and confident in ourselves, knowing we can manage whatever stress shows up in our lives on any given day. We want our relationships to be safe and satisfying. We want our work to have meaning and our lives in general to have purpose and be fulfilling.
I am a body-focused psychotherapist who integrates body, mind and emotions into the healing process. I combine traditional talk psychotherapy with a body-focused approach. I believe that the body is intricately linked to our thoughts and to our feelings. Because they are interwoven, the body cannot be ignored or left out of the healing process.
When we experience stress, distress or trauma, our bodies respond with a fight, flight or freeze response. We fight for our lives, we flee to safety, or we freeze until it is over. Our bodies can get stuck in these high levels of arousal, especially when the "danger" is repetitive or traumatic. We learn to live in a ready state to fight, flee or freeze.

Deb is a stellar human and therapist, she's helped me through the hardest years of my life, and allowed me to navigate them with some grace. I had a hard time dealing with emotional outbursts after the onset of my PTSD, emotions I had spent my whole life fearing and repressing. She helped me understand what was going on. She's so professional, honest, and thoughtful, and has worked hard to help me heal. I'm so grateful to have her on this journey.

I cannot say enough good things about Deb! I have worked with her for a few years, and she has always been a calm, thoughtful, empathetic voice of reason. She is direct in her communication style, and even when she's telling you things maybe you don't want to hear, you know that she's firmly in your corner. Since working with her, I've seen immense change and personal growth.

I feel confident recommending Deb to friends, family, and now, Google folks! If you are looking to really put in the "the work" to make change, identify and understand unresolved problems or issues, Deb is absolutely the right therapist for you.

Before seeing Deb, I did not know that real change was possible. It is! When you have support from Deb, therapy is awesome. Her approach includes talk therapy and physical grounding. Because of my childhood trauma, I don't think I had ever truly lived in my body and was not aware how much fear ruled over my everyday life. Deb is also skilled with "brain-spotting" which truly freed me from fear and old negative behaviors. I am grateful for Deb and her process.

After a grueling year and a half working in live action film, I was exhausted and depressed. I was also 24 and ashamed to admit that I felt tired, in any fashion, before 30. I had a lot of baggage that had piled up over the past year, and even more from childhood I'd yet to ever touch. Throughout the past year of my time with Deb, I've found a peace, clarity, and acceptance of myself within my own life that once felt impossible to achieve. Furthermore, I truly believe she could help any individual find their version of this, so long as they're willing to put in the effort themselves (therapy always takes effort!).

Throughout my childhood and young adulthood I've seen many therapists, but she is easily the most present and compassionate listener of them all. Deb is a deeply kind individual who happens to also be a brilliant and multi-faceted therapist. She never fails to remind me that while she's the therapist, I'm the one making the change and progress. For so long, I was solely concerned with where I've been and might be going. Today, I finally feel like I can focus on where I am. This, as we all know, is often a big piece of the puzzle.

I am beyond grateful for Deb's guidance, and highly recommend her to anyone looking to talk to not just a talented and thoughtful therapist, but a genuinely kind human being.

Deb has direct communication style and is a keen listener. She encourages you to ask yourself the hard questions. She nurtures growth, is empathetic, and has a great sense of humor. I couldn't have asked for a more sharp or intuitive therapist.

I could not be more pleased and grateful that I stumbled across Deb's name on Yelp 3 years ago. I've been seeing her since and will continue to for the foreseeable future. Deb is thoughtful, kind, compassionate and very insightful. Deb has this way of saying, "here's what I'm hearing" after I ramble on for a few minutes.and she'll be right on the money.

She listens and empathizes. I also find it helpful that Deb is not afraid to share some of her own experiences and vulnerabilities as a way of relating to me and my situation. Sometimes sessions have these breakthrough moments which are exciting but usually the changes are more subtle. I can only say that my headspace is in far better shape than it was three years ago and I owe a lot of that to my work with Deb.

Deb was warm and easy to talk to from the start. Her holistic approach to therapy helped me get over a very difficult battle with anxiety. Deb is a great listener, makes you feel at ease, and she also challenges you. She gave great advice as well as tools to heal and live a mindful, fulfilling life.

I've been working with Deb for over two years and she has been such an incredible source of support and perspective. She is compassionate and insightful, and knows how to identify and get to the heart of an issue. She's helped me considerably with several different matters. She has been an invaluable part of my life for the past few years and I look forward to where things will go from here.

I can only echo the strong sentiments and feelings of other reviewers, as Deb has helped me make tremendous changes in my life. After going through a difficult relationship, I interviewed several therapists for talk-therapy, but Deb was the hands-down winner. Her calm, caring, empathetic style combined with her non-judgmental style has fostered a warm and secure relationship between us, and I feel as though I can rely on her to always give stellar advice, insights, and wisdom on all aspects of my life.

Since starting with Deb, I have seen tremendous growth and change in myself, my relationships, and the way I approach every day with gratitude, positivity, strength, and courage. She has been an integral part of that growth, and I know that I am a better friend, colleague, sister/daughter, and girlfriend because of the time I have spent with her. If you are serious about looking inward, going deep, and "doing the work", see Deb. She will challenge you and encourage you to grow and develop in ways that you may not have realized you needed or could do. Deb is one of the best, thanks Deb!

I have been seeing Deb for almost a year and a half now, and she has changed my life. I see her every other week and every time I see her I feel like I learn more and more about myself. Deb has helped me get to know myself in a way that I never thought possible. She's able to help me make connections in my life that I'm unable to see on my own.

I am happier than I have ever been--happier than I ever believed I could be--and that is in large part thanks to the work I've done with Deb. I have seen countless other therapists in the past 15 years, and Deb has been above and beyond the best I've seen. I have been helped more in the past year than I have been in 15 years of therapy. I would highly recommend Deb for anyone who wants to change their life for the better. She has been a light and a breath of fresh air for me, and I am so grateful to have her as a therapist!

If you are truly interested and vested in making a change or having a better understanding of the who, what, when, where and WHY of life, pain, trauma, transition, Deb is wonderful and caring! She has a gift of being able to really listen and discern so much from whatever you are willing to share with her. The perspectives, insights, challenges, recommendations and suggestions provided by Deb are right on, sensible, practical and real.

She is able to create a quiet, reflective and very emotionally SAFE place for you to get the most of your time and work with her. After you read these reviews about Deb, make the call, write the email. You will be glad you did.

I found Deb on Yelp about 3 years ago. The journey we have taken since has been incredible and life changing for me. The way she relates to you and creates a safe environment where you can discuss and share is amazing and top notch. She is also not a therapist that is going to always agree with you. Deb appropriately and responsibly challenges your approach to life and situations. Deb also focus on whole body healing, when I started I lived with a dark mass in my heart/chest area through our sessions and table work this has been lifted and I can breathe soundly again. Thank you Deb!

I found Deb via the reviews here, and I must say all of them are correct. She's an excellent counselor/therapist, very caring and direct. In a few sessions, I was able to bring up and out some deep anger and sadness that I had been holding in my body for years. I'm still working with Deb, but I want to put this out there for others searching for a caring and supportive therapist who understands all of the ramifications of trauma and how it manifests in someone. She has a lot of experience and a lot of insight. If you are wary of therapy or therapists, Deb is a good one. Trust me on that!

Deb is a thoughtful, kind, and professional therapist. She has helped me immensely over the past several years after getting diagnosed with a chronic, lifelong disease. Her ability to understand mind-body issues and talk through options and ideas is outstanding! Her office is comfortable and easy to access and park. Besides bi-weekly therapy sessions, I've done some energy work with her, and participated in mindfulness-based stress reduction class that she co-facilitated.

She is a holistic therapist, encouraging her clients to look at alternative approaches besides traditional Western medicine. Yet, she is not pushy in any way if you are not interested in certain ideas. She does not take insurance, but will work with your insurance for you to get reimbursed later. I highly recommend Deb!

Deb has been such an amazing guide for my healing. She is kind, compassionate, and obviously cares a great deal for her clients. She has genuinely helped me to live a more full life. While I am still a work in progress, I am incredibly grateful to have her assistance with my journey.

As a psychologist, I knew I would be a potentially tough client! But after a friend highly recommended Deb after I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I decided to give it a shot. I was not only having a hard time getting better after the meds seemed to hit a plateau, I had a hard time accepting the life changes that I had to deal with. I have been seeing Deb weekly or biweekly for the past 2 years, and I've made tremendous progress in both areas.

I also took a mindfulness based stress reduction class that she co-facilitated so she has a very holistic approach. Further, she's helped me connect how the years of crises without dealing with them emotionally truly affected my physical well-being. Her advice and insight has been invaluable. I highly recommend Deb!

Deb is amazing. She interviewed me to make sure she's the right match for me and from that moment I knew she would be good for me. I have never left her feeling like it was a waste of time. She's down to earth, realistic and caring and doesn't try to be too clinical but just help me look at things in a better and different way. She really has been a savior for me in a very difficult time. She knows how to make me feel better or what I need even before I do!

Deb was recommended to me after seeing 2 other therapists that I wasn't quite happy with. She's a wonderful therapist who not only has helped me through some recent rough times, but has taught me so much about myself. The skills she's taught me will help ensure I make better decisions and take better control of my life in the future. I have recommended her to friends who love her too.

Deb put me at ease from the first time I met her. I have been to other therapists but I've never felt as comfortable as I do with her. She has a way of truly understanding what I need to talk about before even I do. I feel relaxed every time I leave a session with her. Highly recommend her services!
