Turf toe is caused by increased flexion or extension of the great toe causing stretching or tearing of the ligaments. The symptoms of turf toe are pain, swelling and sometimes instability of the big toe. Acupuncture to the two meridians that travel to the big toe (the liver and spleen meridians) can help reduce pain and inflammation in the toe and also restore it to normal range of motion and flexibility.
This problem is caused by an inflammation of the plantar fascia (a band of tissue/ligament that extends from the heel to the toes) on the bottom of the foot. Several factors contribute to plantar fasciitis including having a very high arched foot or a flat foot, wearing non-supportive footwear on hard surfaces for prolonged periods of time, standing for long hours on your feet and being overweight.
Shin splints is a term referring to pain in the lower leg that involves the two muscles that run from the knee to the ankle and the side of the foot. Generally shin splints are caused by overuse, inflexibility, lack of stretching or poor form during training. Symptoms include pain on the front or side(s) of the lower leg and occasional aching or swelling anywhere in the lower leg.
A meniscus tear is a tear in the cartilages (menisci) that are located between the femur and tibia bones in the lower leg. The menisci provide stability and help distribute body weight by keeping the bones from rubbing together. As shock absorbers, the menisci help absorb the pressure exerted on the knee joint.

Monica always provided the best compassionate and effective care. She is very knowledgeable and does a great job explaining what she is treating and why during each visit. I would highly recommend Monica as she is the best acupuncturists I have ever seen. I will definitely be going back to her in the future!

Monica is an expert, confident, knowledgeable, caring acupuncturist with many years of experience and specialized education. I have been to three other acupuncturists in the past and Monica by far and away has provided the most effective treatment.

I recommend the peaceful environment and professional care at Seattle Acupuncture & Holistic Health. The periodic acupuncture has proved to be very effective treating a family history in varicose veins, digestion, and allergy-based sinus pressure. These methods have been used for centuries and so often forgotten!

Monica has Been a godsend over many years treating me for primarily autoimmune conditions. Pretty much every health issue I've had responds to her care, ranging from gynecological to neurological to structural (sprain). Monica places needles with intention and intuition and you can feel the physical response immediately and in the long run. With other acupuncturists I used there has been almost no physical response during treatment or effectiveness afterwards.

She also has advanced training that makes her able to handle more complex cases like my own. Even though I don't live close I travel across Seattle to get to her cause I've tried the others but need to stick with the best. Can't recommend more highly!

This review is way overdue but very deserving. I started seeing Monica almost 5 years ago to help bring balance to my monthly cycles and hormones. After a few months my cycles had become more regular and I became pregnant. I really feel that Monica was a huge part of helping my body conceive and maintain a healthy pregnancy. She is very easy to talk to, attentive and knowledgeable. I have been to three different acupuncturists in my life and Monica was by far the best. Thank you Monica!

I have been going to Monica for almost 10 years, she has helped me through plenty of sports injuries when nothing else worked. Since I have IBS I have trouble with my gut, but Monica has done miracles on my gut health. I would highly recommend her to anybody!

I went to see Monica when I was 39 years old, and had already been through two miscarriages. I had heard from a friend that acupuncture would be helpful to try and conceive. I found Monica online, and after reading her rave reviews I knew she was the one! I went to go see her and explained my situation. With her treatments and herbs, I got pregnant after 6 weeks of seeing Monica. I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant and owed it all to Monica and her expertise on having this baby girl! We couldn't be more thrilled. Monica is the best, I trust her 100%.

I was referred to Monica for acupuncture from my OBGYN since at 35 weeks pregnant our baby girl was breeched. After two sessions, she flipped into the correct position! I kept seeing Monica to help get my body ready for labor, which seemed super effective in shortening my overall labor time. I highly recommend Monica as she truly cares about her clients' health and wellbeing, in addition to getting positive results from her treatments.

I started seeing Monica weekly for help regulating my cycle and improving fertility. We'd been trying to conceive for almost a year. Within one cycle, I stopped spotting. Within two cycles, I was pregnant! I'm continuing treatment for pregnancy support--which has been so effective for treating fatigue. Monica is incredibly knowledgeable and caring. Each session she listens to what's going on, then explains what she is doing and why. I'm so appreciative of her expertise.

Monica is simply the best. I have been seeing Monica weekly since November and she has improved the way my body functions both physically and emotionally. Monica is extremely knowledgeable in acupuncture and never ceases to amaze me in explanations of how our bodies work, and the ways that acupuncture can benifit. I trust her implicitly and recommend Monica to anyone who is in need of an Acupuncturist, she is not only knowledgeable but very caring.

Monica has been amazing. After being diagnosed with Bell's Palsy, my doctors failed to take me seriously so I turned to a Facebook support group who recommend I try out acupuncture. Monica happened to be the 1st person recommended and I am glad I found her. I emailed her late on a Saturday after my hospital visit and she responded very quickly. She took me seriously and treats me like a human being.

The pain I was experiencing was significantly reduced and my muscles are almost back to normal. I'm afraid to know what may have happened had we not crossed paths. I highly recommend Monica, especially if you are battling Bell's Palsy.

Monica really knows what she is doing and she has a kind and patient bedside manner. She has years of education and experience. Intelligence, competence and kindness in one provider can be hard to find, and she has all three. So often, health care practitioners don't truly listen to their patients. But Monica does listen and it is refreshing! As for acupuncture itself, it's a mystery to me how it works but I've seen the proof in my own body with chronic pain cured that drugs could not fix.

I'm a skeptical science and technology and business/numbers person. But at this point, I would try acupuncture with Monica BEFORE taking traditional pharmaceuticals for most ailments, including skin ailments or muscle pain. She also fixed my carpal tunnel wrist and I still sort of can't believe it, but the pain is gone. Monica is really good at explaining what she is doing and her reasoning, which makes the visits fascinating as well as healing.

I can't believe I waited until my 30s to try acupuncture but I did so out of desperation and was pleasantly surprised! She is a good ally for personal wellness. Also, I appreciate that Monica is working on my behalf and no one else's -- there's no drug company kickback lurking in the background of her recommended treatment. It's just her - the medical provider and me, the patient, without outside influence. In sum: Highly recommend Monica! Her new Queen Anne location is calming and charming, right on the Avenue.

Monica is absolutely wonderful. I went to see her after struggling with infertility for over 3 years. I was very particular when choosing an acupuncturist for infertility. They had to have awesome reviews and a great success rate. Based on what I found on the internet, Monica had both. My first visit went very well. Monica was extremely kind and gentle.

She took the time to ask me questions to try to understand where I was in my infertility journey. She explained how the treatment works and why she chose specific points. I'm ecstatic to announce that after seeing Monica for only a month combined with Western infertility treatment I am pregnant for the first time ever! I truly believe that it was a combination of Eastern and Western medicine that made my dream a reality.

I plan to continue to see Monica as I get closer to delivery. I would recommend Monica to anyone for any treatment that acupuncture would be able to help. She is simply the best.

My experience with Monica @ Downtown Seattle Acupuncture has been truly a great experience! I went to see Monica for fertility issues, as I had heard acupuncture could possibly help in this arena. Not going to lie, I don't like needles and was skeptical at first, but Monica made the process easy & enjoyable, and it's a very relaxing and calming way to spend 30 minutes:-.

I saw results in a matter of a couple months, and now, it has been about 1 year and I believe that the combination of my acupuncture treatment with Monica, along with my fertility medicine I was taking, allowed us to conceive and am happy to report that I am currently 20 weeks along in pregnancy and couldn't be happier. Because I believe acupuncture can truly help in SO many ways, I continue to see Monica to help with stress relief, headaches and muscle pains throughout my pregnancy.

She is very knowledgeable with the science behind chinese medicine and in my case, fertility, along with what herbs to take to regulate my body and the various foods that improve the process as well. She not only was a great acupuncturist, but also is very personable and down to earth and enjoy visiting and receiving treatment each month. I would highly recommend Monica and her practice!
