I grew up in a family filled with doctors, nurses, and dentists. Attracted to both the arts and the sciences, I graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering, achieving degrees in computer science, mathematics, design and Japanese. I trained at the nationally acclaimed Bastyr University in Seattle and Tri State College of Acupuncture in New York City and completed my degree, a Masters of Science in Acupuncture. I owned and ran a busy integrative clinic in Iowa City for seven years, working closely with the University of Iowa and VA Hospitals.
Acupuncture is an incredibly safe modality that has been around for thousands of years and is effective for a variety of health conditions. My method of acupuncture blends modern Western medical theory and a deep understanding of human anatomy with proven East Asian medical practices. I will work as part of an integrative medical approach with your Western care providers.
Physical medicine therapies work by applying pressure to acupoints, meridians and groups of muscles or nerves. Removing blockages while encouraging blood flow and movement in these regions lead to better health and vitality. You will experience increased circulation, reduced tension and general relaxation.
We use only the highest quality organic essential oils for our patients. Oils may be incorporated as part of your treatment and diffused through the air or blended and applied topically. Specially formulated blends that support and treat individual conditions are also available. In Traditional Chinese Medicine there is no distinct difference between food and medicine, meaning that food itself can sometimes be all the medicine you need. Food is viewed as a powerful tool to help create and maintain wellness.
