Acupuncture needles are much thinner than the needles used for injections. If you feel them at all, it will be a sensation similar to pulling a single hair. Needles may be placed in sensitive areas of the hands and feet which some people may find uncomfortable. You may experience warmth, tingling, numbness, distending or a heavy feeling at the needle site.
Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese medicine that dates back over 2000 years. The basic theory of this medicine is that an invisible energy called 'qi' flows through the body via meridians. In a healthy individual, 'qi' flows freely through the meridian network. There are 12 major meridians and eight secondary meridians.
Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, David started his career as a bicycle mechanic, massage therapist and product engineer before becoming an acupuncturist. On days off, he's rebuilding his vintage British motorcycle while listening to reggae and Playing for Change. David's father immigrated from Japan and worked in farms on the west coast eventually beating all odds with a successful electric business. As front desk manager, Rosa oversees the operations side of the business making sure the clinic is running smoothly.
At the southeast intersection of Lawrence and Western Avenues is the archway sign above the entrance of Lincoln Square. The historic one-way street is lined with small independently-owned shops and some of the best international restaurants. We are located just a few doors north of Merz Apothecary and above SmileWorks Dentistry.

Dr. Kato and staff are excellent! I have gone to him for not one, but two bouts of frozen shoulder and he was the only thing that helped BOTH times! They are so nice and great to work with, plus the setting is very relaxing, which makes the experience that much better. If you are in need of acupuncture, do not hesitate-GO TO DR. KATO!

I bring my family elders here for a variety of aliments and every time we are provided with exceptional service. David is very kind, thorough, and compassionate. I was recently diagnosed with autoimmune disease and I'm still a young broke grad student who needed an affordable treatment for inflammation. I've only been a handful of times but I'm starting to notice a difference. This place is run really well and I'm really thankful for how affordable it is. Also, sometimes appointments look very booked up online, but if you put yourself in the waitlist they actually will text to see if you're free.
I've gotten waitlist appointments which have been great! I was a little nervous about community acupuncture but not anymore! David creates a peaceful environment. It's a very relaxing part of my week!

I've been in treatment there for two months and I feel the best I have felt in my whole life! I feel very centered, which has helped me begin to notice powerfully when situations knock me off balance. God how I love this place. Wish I lived closer. They ARE the real deal. If you've never tried acupuncture & want to give a whirl, know this place is worth traveling to. They do "community"--or at least they did--so you were in a room with others but don't let that deter you as you will get personal tailored care & others will not be in your business but privately focused, relaxed in their own world & healing.
They used to do a sliding scale to make it affordable to all, unsure that's still their business model but very philanthropic in nature & care for all. I can't speak highly enough about my experience there, even if it goes a ways back.

Went to Lincoln Square Acupuncture after hearing good reviews about it. Currently going through so many things in life and I honestly felt at home there. Dr. David was extremely kind and a great listener. He wanted to help me. I appreciate that humans still care about each other like this. I feel relaxed and happier and can't wait to be back!
