Lotus Yoga Land Acknowledgment: Lotus Yoga acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral lands of the Duwamish people (dxdwabs). A people that are still here, continuing to honor and bring to light their ancient heritage. We honor with gratitude the land itself and the original caretakers of this land, past and present. This acknowledgement does not take the place of authentic relationships with indigenous communities, but serves as a first step in honoring the land we are on.

Please support our efforts in this regard by using the payment option that you can afford. We offer these options freely without attachment, and we hope that our community will be able to balance the payment tiers: with some students who can pay more doing so, so that others can attend for less. This tiered payment experiment can only continue if Lotus can thrive both as a business and as a community moving together toward a more inclusive yoga and mindful movement culture. We offer several payment cadences to meet you where you are at in your interests and schedule:.
We love being a part of this amazing community and neighborhood! We are committed to practicing "Karma Yoga", or the yoga of selfless service, in as many ways as we can. For us, this takes the shape of serving our community and to being an active participant in furthering a world where all beings can be happy and free.
Our teachers are dedicated yoga practitioners. Each brings vast knowledge and experience from a broad spectrum of Yoga traditions. Most teach a "blended" style of yoga that is alignment based and heart centered and that highlights their unique training, personality, and life experiences. We teach from the heart.

Lotus Yoga has been fantastic for my mental health during COVID. They very quickly and effectively transitioned to Zoom classes and have been consistent and reliable with their class offerings. The teachers are attentive to the students needs and are continuously improving the quality of the classes, from instruction to technology issues. In the 9+ months I have been with them, I haven't had a teacher cancel classes or had any sign up issues.

Payment and sign ups can be done online and you automatically get a Zoom link in your email. The classes trend toward being sustainable and beginner style as the clientele tends to be of an older generation. The instructors and clientele are really down-to-earth and easy going, with just enough 'woo' for my practice. The class times fit well with a 8-5 work schedule.

They also frequently do free workshops that benefit BLM or other non-profit ventures in the community. My favorite instructors are Reese, Adi and Stephen - they are excellent! My one piece of feedback is that I wish they had more weekend classes. I am truly grateful to be able to continue my support on small businesses. I hope they continue the online classes even after the pandemic is over.

I have absolutely loved coming to Lotus Yoga prenatal classes during my pregnancy! It's so encouraging to be in a room filled with other mamas-to-be who are making time and space to stay active. And Alicia's approach is a nice combination of relaxed and inspiring movement. Also, I enjoy the bright space and simplicity of decor. I also love how accessible Maia makes yoga to our community through sliding scale classes, a feature I benefited from when first attending and unemployed.

This is a neat, no-nonsense yoga studio, with solid and friendly teachers, and a comprehensive schedule. If you work a day job, they have great weekday morning classes (6am!), so by the time you get to work, you are ready for anything.;) Their "Restoratives" are super-mellow, but somehow still very impactful. If you are looking for no-nonsense quality yoga, I highly recommend this spot.

I took my prenatal yoga lessons in this yoga studio. I loved it and I love the instructor ( don't remember her name) I bonded with few expecting mothers as well. The only thing I didn't like was the smell or bad ventilation of the studio. My class was right after another class and you can smell the sweaty odor in the room. It might have been because I was pregnant or my sensitive nose but I wasn't fan of it. Another thing I didn't enjoy was parking in that area. You have to pay for it on the street and then waiting on the stairs to the studio because the door is closed.

Here is my short & sweet review. Great deal for checking out their classes: one-month new student pass, $50/month Frequency I attended the class: 3 times/week Instructors: Tried out various instructors. Each one has a different style of teaching and focus on different parts of the body to work out (e.g., hips, shoulders). All instructors begin the class making sure that you're breathing properly and are present.

All the instructors are friendly so if you have questions, just ask. They are also respectful of different body shapes and types students have and as a result, they don't ask you to do moves that can hurt your body. Peers in the class: The students in the class are warm & welcoming. Most make eye contact, smile and are cool with small talk with new students they just met. Students come from different backgrounds, range in age and body types.

Great fit for: people who want to get back into shape and need a place to start; people who need to work on being more flexible and pay attention to moving their joints the right way; folks who need to work on being more present; people living in the Columbia City/Hillman City neighborhood. Outcomes: As a result, I breathe easier and more smoothly; feel more present; am more respectful of how my body moves and what works for it; and noticed that I'm able to do my other workouts with better flow; posture (standing and sitting) has improved; lower back and core feels stronger.

I really love this sweet airy studio in Columbia City. My favorite teachers are Megan and Adi and the studio has a very mellow vibe. I prefer welcoming studios with a mix of students that doesn't feel competitive. Thank you Lotus Yoga!

There are a lot of hot yoga, bickram yoga and studios where yogarobics is the focus. The focus at Lotus is mindful, restorative and inward facing which is exactly what I want for my practice. There are very few studios that I've found where being mindful and aware is the focus and I was sold after my first class. The variety of classes is fantastic and I love the weeknight schedule.

Most studios offer a limited number of classes after 6:00 leaving me with the feeling of a schedule vs. flexibility in my week. Besides the schedules and variety of classes, I love the diversity in the community. Everybody from the students to the Yogi's have a fantastic energy. If you're looking for a studio where being mindful and taking it slow is part of your regime, Lotus will more then likely meet many of your expectations.

Been here two times. The first time the class started late and was not overly challenging; definitely geared more for beginners and older folks. Second time, no one showed, including the instructor! Not a happy yogi.

I love Lotus Yoga. It's a sweet little yoga studio on the second floor of an old building on the downtown Columbia City strip. I've had many teachers and most have been fantastics, but I especially like Emily's classes. The weeknight classes are great for spreading out and having an intimate yoga experience, while Saturday and Sundays are fun and energetic but very, very crowded. On my yoga mornings, I love going to Columbia City Bakery or Geraldines for breakfast afterwards. Both are within a stone's throw to the studio.

This is a great studio for beginners. I'm a person who loves to sweat and challenge myself during yoga, so this is not the studio for me. I bought a 6 class pass, and I have one class left that I can't bring myself to use. It's a great, calm, clean environment, but if you're looking to elevate your heart rate, even just a little, I suggest checking out Tiger Lily Yoga down the street.

I usually take Megan's mid-day class, and it's amazing! I come out feeling totally relaxed, but I'm always sore the next day. Although the work out's great, there's a real focus on breathing and the meditative elements of yoga, so if you're looking to sculpt your abs, this may not be the place for you. Big, well-lit studio, lots of class times to choose from, mid-range prices - just a great place over all. Worth the trip from West Seattle although there are lots of studios closer to home.

I've been attending classes at Lotus for many years now. I've study with pretty much all of the teachers. Tuesday's and Thursday's at 8am is my favorite class. Bianca is a wonderful informative teacher. She will take your practice to a different level and enhance your techinque.

It's pretty hippie dippy, but the mood of this studio is fantastic. I love yoga, but I'm by no means a pro, which can leave you feeling more stressed out than relaxed in some of the pretentious yoga studios around Seattle. Lotus is everything I dreamed of! The only thing better would be if it was free;) Things I love about this place: -the instructors: they're friendly and attentive and make everyone feel welcome in the classes. -the location: I can walk here from my apartment, which is a huge perk for me - parking in Columbia City can be a pain (though there is a paid lot on the corner of Rainier and Hudson). -the classes: I love restorative and yin yoga.

They happen to have several restorative classes that strike my fancy and make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Seriously, I love them. If you're in the area and looking for a yoga fix, try it out, you won't be disappointed!

This place was my first real yoga experience. I was afraid it would be too difficult for me or it was going to have one of those yoga classes that everyone is a yoga guru and you're the only person who can barely handle downward dog. Not the case at all. I've taken about 7 or so classes and with a couple different instructors and I love it. Everyone has been so welcoming and wonderful. I am so relaxed after I leave class and that to me, is worth it!

I am 8 months pregnant. I go to the prenatal yoga class when I can't bear the drive out to Seattle Holistic Center. I love the space it is huge and airy. I love the instructors too, they are very kind and friendly and uber soothing! My only BUT, is that I did feel like some of the positions we found ourselves in were a bit too hard for being pregnant.

Still I like the challenge so I just kept pushing. However, the next day I was more sore than I usually am with other classes. I think we just need to remember that some of the ladies in the class may need a modified option if we cannot perform the full stretch or pose. Overall it is a great place and I will return next week:

I'm very happy I can walk to this place. The studio is small, but homey with lots of light, and the instructors are knowledgeable. I've taken Adi's class on Sunday and Wednesday evenings, and I always feel like a new, improved person afterwards. Since it is a small studio, the schedule is limited- For example, I'd love a class on Friday evening and the more vigorous flow classes are at 6:00am (Yikes! Not for me). Maybe I'm a bit spoiled since I used to live in Capitol Hill! Overall, a good local yoga studio.

This place is as hippie-dippy as they come. The Prana of Lotus is awesome! I'm always in a great mood, feeling loose and relaxed after class. The studio is on the second floor in one of the historic buildings of Columbia City. It's so quiet and relaxed I'm afraid to walk normally fearing my steps would be mistaken for Bigfoot. The instructors are awesome too, friendly and instructive in that hippie-dippy way. It's in the heart of Columbia City so parking might be iffy during the day but there's plenty of street parking on weeknights. As previously mentioned there's CC Bakery and other excellent eating establishments.

Beautiful studio. Ample parking. Small classes. This little gem in Columbia city is worth the 10 minute drive to have some space and personal attention lacking at so many crowded urban yoga studios. Gregg is a fantastic instructor. Love Love Love this place! Plus, Columbia City Bakery is across the street if you feel you deserve a treat afterwords.
