Dr. Scott Walter, DC, ART
The driving force for Dr. Scott Walter’s career in Chiropractic came while he was still in high school. Dr. Walter was very active in athletics and would frequently have minor injuries that would require him to visit the Chiropractor, but one injury in particular really solidified in his mind that he wanted to become a Doctor of Chiropractic. During one football game his sophomore season, he sustained a back injury after a hit from another player which was extremely painful and caused him to sit out the rest of the game. The day after the injury, Dr. Walter was evaluated by a local Chiropractor who, after ruling out a spinal fracture, found he had a severe contusion (bruise) along with some low back muscle spasms and low back subluxations (a bone that is misaligned causing irritation to the local nerves). After a few adjustments and some home exercises, Dr. Walter was right back to the playing field. After seeing how Chiropractors help not only athletes, but everyone live healthier lives through a natural approach to health care, Dr. Walter decided he wanted to help people in the same way.
Dr. Walter grew up in Wahpeton, ND, where he graduated from Wahpeton Senior High School. Following graduation, Dr. Walter was honored to accept a football scholarship to play for North Dakota State University, in Fargo, ND. As football can be a grueling sport physically and was a constant challenge to stay healthy, Dr. Walter credits regular Chiropractic care with keeping him on the field. Dr. Walter graduated Magna Cum Laude from NDSU with a degree in Human Performance and Fitness, which formed the foundation for his career in Chiropractic. He learned the basics of exercise, nutrition and how to motivate individuals to lead healthier lives. While attending NDSU, he also met the love of his life and future wife, Courtney. After graduating from NDSU, Dr. Walter attended Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctorate of Chiropractic.
Dr. Walter resides in Eden Prairie, MN with his beautiful wife Courtney and their dog Dutch. They really enjoy living in such a friendly and active community as Eden Prairie. Dr. Walter’s passion is to help people learn about their bodies and how to live a healthier life by promoting proper nutrition, regular exercise, healthy lifestyle choices and regular Chiropractic adjustments.

It's hard to focus on your job when your back hurts. Unfortunately, standing or sitting for hours can stress your back and worsen your aches and pains. These eight tips can help you reduce or prevent job-related back pain. Stress and strain on your back are more likely to occur when you remain in the same position for a long time. Whether you work in construction, drive a truck, or spend the day in an office, changing your position regularly will reduce the strain on your back. Breaks don't have to be long to be effective.
Chiropractic care offers a safe, effective way to treat pain and improve mobility, yet myths about this beneficial therapy continue to circulate. If you've been thinking about starting chiropractic treatment, you may have heard a few of these common myths. Your friends may have mentioned that their necks or backs were "cracked" during a visit to the chiropractor. Cracking certainly sounds alarming, but fortunately, that's not what actually happens. The cracking sound occurs during spinal manipulation, a treatment that realigns the vertebrae in your spine.
Nearly everyone has back pain from time to time. In fact, 60 to 70 percent of people living in industrialized countries have experienced low back pain, according to World Health Organization estimates. Back pain can occur for many reasons, including these common causes. Flexible discs located between the vertebra in your spine help hold your spine together and act as shock absorbers when you move. A herniated disc occurs when the gel-like center of the disc protrudes through the tough, outer coating.
Poor posture, stress, strain, and injuries can lead to a misalignment of the vertebrae that make up your spine. Even minor misalignments of your spine can cause problems that affect the joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves in your back, neck, and other areas of the body. A chiropractic adjustment, also called spinal manipulation, realigns your spine with a quick, hands-on thrusting motion. Adjustments not only improve joint function but also reduce muscle tension responsible for pain and stiffness.
Even the most minor automobile accident can have major effects on your body. When we are involved in motor vehicle accidents, thousands of pounds of force are exerted on the body, most notably the neck and spine. Cervical acceleration/deceleration (CAD) injuries, more commonly referred to as Whiplash, occur when the head and neck are thrown or "snapped" back and forth very quickly. The result of this injury is damage to the ligaments, muscle, and discs of the neck and spine. CAD can cause injuries to the head and neck, but also to the upper/mid back and lower back.
At Midwest Chiropractic and Wellness, our Eden Prairie chiropractic staff is ready to help you find effective and holistic relief from your lower back pain that goes beyond just temporary symptom relief. We aim to help you figure out why your back pain is occurring so we can address the root causes and truly help your spine heal. Nearly 8 out of 10 people will have lower back pain at some point. When we look at the leading risk factors of this condition, it's easy to understand why so many people are affected by it!
