North County Acupuncture

Just had the worst experience I've ever had trying to set up a first appointment. The lady who answers the phone (Kathleen) set up my appointment on Wednesday for Monday afternoon. She called me back to say that my insurance was showing "terminated" and that she would have to cancel my appointment. I was shocked that she so quickly changed her tone and immediately became impatient.

I tried to assure her that my insurance was active and explain to her that I would sort it out and pay out of pocket if necessary but she kept insisting that she would have to cancel the appointment if she couldn't verify my insurance and proceeded to go on and on about how many years she's been in this business and how this been a problem in the past.

All I could do at this point was continue to assure her that I would pay out of pocket if her system wasn't updated before my appointment. She just wouldn't accept this answer and continued to insist that I didn't understand. She was obviously frustrated however this was my first interaction with her and I tried to show her some grace and assume she was having a bad day.

So I contacted my insurer to inquire about the discrepancy and they assured me their system had been corrected and that the website would take one to two days to update. The insurer even called Kathleen directly to assure her that my insurance was indeed active. Even after all that, I still got an email from Kathleen stating that my appointment had been cancelled.

Her message: "Yes, I did speak with the ASH rep who said she was escalating to a supervisor to try and get this straightened out; however, she could not guarantee it would be right by Monday and agreed it sometimes takes a bit of time. Even if you're willing to be a out-of-pocket patient, our interaction with you has been extremely unpleasant up to this point in trying to help you understand the insurance/billing perspective.

We feel it would be in your best interest to find another practitioner at this time." Unbelievable. She in no way took responsibility for her rude behavior, or the fact that none of this would have mattered because I was willing to pay cash. I literally did nothing wrong here but I did do my best to go above and beyond to reason with her but in the end, she was angry and irritated and my effort to calm her down wasn't good enough because she made up her mind to discriminate against me for having ASH insurance, who she hates to deal with.

So what I've learned: - Kathleen doesn't care if you're willing to pay out of pocket if you have insurance - She doesn't care that your insurance company is calling to give verbal verification about a patient's enrollment status - She doesn't care that your appointment is next week, if she can't run your insurance several days ahead of time, she's cancelling your appointment because she's "dealt with this before". - She doesn't care if you're a new patient, if you have ASH coverage, she'll treat you badly -Kathleen blames me, the patient, for the insurance company having technical issues.

All of this before I even set one foot in the door. I'm pretty sure Dr. Joseph Voss didn't get the full story from his wife before agreeing to cancel my appointment but all of this could have been avoided if Kathleen would have just accepted cash payment from the get go and not projected her issues onto a new customer.

I can not say enough about my experience at North County Acupuncture. I was seeking some relieve from my Long Hauler COVID symptoms. When I first walked into the office, I was greeted with a warm welcome. Being my first time doing acupuncture, I was apprehensive. With Joe's knowledge, experience and gentleness, I knew I was in good hands. I felt some relieve from my COVID symptoms during and after the first treatment.

I am so happy to find something that will improve my symptoms. I intend to continue my healing of Long Hauler COVID with North County Acupuncture, and I intend to go to Joe for any new health issues that I may experience in the future.

I'm excited to willing write this review & share my experience with North Country Acupuncture. I truly hope someone else finds healing or freedom like I have. First, the clinic itself. Immaculately clean, organized consistent business processes, & easy easy easy online booking & patient intake. I was able to research, book, & upload all the medical information ect all without having to talk to anyone. Second, Joe & Kathleen are just good solid human beings. 100% of the time I have been treated with respect, felt listened to, cared for, and I always leave feeling better than when I came in. Third, the acupuncture itself.

After 1 session, 1.5 years worth of daily nausea & vomiting stopped. I'm sleeping better. I notice that my insides are much calmer throughout the day. My body just feels better. I'm so excited to continue treatments & feel more of the longer term effects. Thank you Joe!

Through Mr. Joseph Voss L.Ac. of North County Acupuncture, I have had immediate substantial reduction of chronic musculoskeletal pain in the low back region along with the neck and shoulders area. This place is wonderful! The staff are very welcoming and professional. It was my first time receiving acupuncture and I was a little hesitant but Joseph was amazing and explained the benefits to me. He is very skilled and I trust him completely! I've been back every week since! Easy parking, easy to find, don't have to wait forever to get on the table, and the chill music is a huge plus.

Witch Doctor! HAHA. That's what I joke about when I go to see Joe. I am a mom of 3 boys and never really find time for myself. I have a lot of stress and especially feel it in my back and neck. Also, have a heel spur. I was apprehensive about going because I never really thought acupuncture would work. Boy was I wrong! I have never felt better! It has even helped change my mood when I do get stressed. Joe and his wife are very welcoming as soon as you come in.

The office is spotless and rooms are spacious and comfortable. Joe has a way of calming you even just by having the initial conversation about what you are feeling that day. If you have any sort of stress or pain this is the place for you!

Awesome place. Came here because I suffer from anxiety and lot's of stress (I am in sales and have 3 young kids :). I have never tried anything like acupuncture before so I was a little hesitant. I hated being on meds so I wanted to try something new. As soon as you walk in, in fact as soon as you call and talk to Joe, you will feel a sense of peace.

He has an awesome demeanor that really helps the entire experience. The office is spotless, it's easy to schedule appointments, and Joe seems to know his stuff! I am now on week 3 and truly feeling different. I am really glad I decided to go and have been spreading the word to friends and family since. Give it a try!

I had been to three other acupuncturists in my life prior to moving to California. This is the first time that I've actually noticed such an immediate effect on pain as well as just feeling less tension. Joseph Voss uses less needles than many prior experiences I've had, yet the results are more noticeable! I highly recommend this office if you are dealing with pain, tense muscles, chronic illness etc.

He is kind and the office is very peaceful. His wife is also easy to talk to while scheduling. Medication is not always necessary- I have MS and this is one of the best things I do for myself to stay well and healthy. I am grateful for Joseph's help!

This place is AMAZING. From the second I walk in, I feel very relaxed and calm. Joseph works wonders with his needles, and I have already felt significant improvement in my condition after visiting here for just two months. Also his wife is very lovely as well! I recommend it to anyone experiencing chronic health issues, or just people looking to relax more in their daily lives.

I started coming to Joe a couple of months ago when my dry eyes and blepharospasm had become almost debilitating. I found Joe to be very positive and he gave me hope that my eyes issues would subside. He checks with me every time I visit and adjusts his treatment based on my feedback. My eye issues have improved a great deal since I started getting acupuncture with Joe and I trust that with his care, they will eventually subside completely. Joe's wife Kathleen is friendly, easy to talk to, and she gives me lots of advice about my cats. : )) She is also very helpful with scheduling and insurance.

This is my favorite acupuncturist I have ever been treated by. Joe is a very special practitioner, taking into account the full scope of the patient's life, not just pain or reason that drove them to seek treatment. For those that follow my reviews, you know that for some time I have been plagued with several chronic illnesses and have had an interesting journey the last 13 years.

Within the last four years, I have had additional stresses and fears in my life that caused my illnesses to progress to a point of almost complete disability. I switched to North County acupuncture solely out of transportation convenience; it was much easier to get here. I am happy I did though. Joe's approach with my treatments include a "less is more" with the needles and sometimes cupping prior to the needles.

He also allows me to incorporate sound healing, which I feel boosted my treatments allow for further pain and spasticity relief. As a bonus Joe has lots of wonderful wisdom to share regarding life in general, as well as healing and wellness (physical and spiritual) and has given me suggestions of great books and documentaries to gain insight from. Kathleen at the front desk is just a ray of light when you walk in or call.

She is just as special a lady as Joe is a fella and leaving the office is like walking away from a giant, warming hug. The office is calm, clean, well decorated, and exactly the environment you look forward to entering to heal. I honestly cannot express enough how much I love North County Acupuncture. I haven't been able to keep up with treatments during c-19 but I hope to visit again soon. Love & light!

I have been dealing w/carpal tunnel pain for about 2 years now, got the surgery on both hands & tons of sessions for physical therapy, nothing seemed to work. My WC doctor finally recommended to try acupuncture and although I was skeptical because nothing was working I went for it and BOY am I glad I did. My pain level is usually daily on a 8 and ever since I started seeing Joe my pain has drastically reduced.

I'm still in pain but now about a 2-4 and I'm hoping with more sessions it will go away completely. Why hadn't i tried this before?! SO HAPPY THAT I WAS RECOMMENDED TO JOE AND HIS OFFICE

I have tried EVERYTHING to relieve my anxiety and pain I have had for years. massage therapy, chiropractor, physical therapy, western medicine. NOTHING has worked. until I went to North County Acupuncture. all the pain is gone and my anxiety is at an al time low. this is life changing :

I am a disabled veteran and I've been in the military for 12 years and I've had shoulder problems for the majority of the announcement of my enlistment. I can't tell you how many physical therapy sessions I went to and how many navy doctors told me that it was nothing until I met Joe. Joe fixed my shoulder within two sessions and I can't imagine how much better I get once I complete my treatment. I feel like you do push-ups again like a 20-year-old trust me acupuncture works. Joe is the best and he is a veteran himself, he will take care of your needs.

I started a month ago going to North County Acupuncture. I was having issues with Sciatica, lower back pain and nerve pain in my feet. My sciatica is gone, lower back pain is gone, and my feet are 100% better. Prior it was hard to get sleep with the nerve pain on my feet and i would wake up at night. Now I can sleep all night thru. With my lower back pain gone, I was easily able to play a round of golf without pain following. And Sciatica was just horrible, hard to get up in the morning, limping, hard to bend over.those days are gone. I highly recommend North Country Acupuncture.

As an active person who dabbles in endurance sports I am no stranger to aches and pains. I started seeing Joe for when back pain didn't subside despite months of my usual successful treatment tricks. I am happy to say that the pain has finally gone after my treatments at North County Acupuncture! It did take some time (not a surprise considering how long I'd been struggling with it) but I also had some immediate benefit after treatment.

I always walked out feeling better than when I came in. I remember one day in particular I had a terrible migraine walking in and no headache walking out. Totally turned my day around! I love coming to this relaxing environment to see Joe and Kathleen always so friendly and professional. My back feels great thanks to Joe and my weekly reset!

As a veteran dealing with pain I'm not real confident dealing with none traditional medicine or new therapies. However, Mr. Voss has helped me to relax and consider an alternative method of treating my pain. I'm definitely better for it. I've been coming for treatments for a few weeks and though I still have several more treatments to go, I feel better and that's saying a lot for me.

North County Acupuncture is awesome. Joe Voss, owner and operator is an outstanding guy. Went there because of some pain in my shoulder and ankle. After several treatments pain subsided and was very manageable.

Joe has been treating me for wrist issues over the past year or so. Many of my symptoms have improved. He is always very concerned with how I'm progressing and somehow his treatments are always relaxing. His new office is lovely and peaceful. Since carpal tunnel syndrome is a stubborn one, I'll be continuing to need treatment and I plan to continue to have Joe be the practitioner that I use.

I have been working with Joe for years. The way we met was based on a golfing trip I had to take but had sever back pain and was going to have to pull out. My wife said what about Acupuncture, I said, what about it? I thought I had nothing to lose with only 4 days to get my body right. Well guess what, Joe did it! Been using him off and on ever since. Great guy really listens and implements the right therapy.

Woke up today and thought, yay, it's accupuncture day! I have only been 4 times so far, but I think it's working. And the bonus is it is super duper relaxing. Very nice, clean office. Joe is great!

I should have seen Joe 20 years ago, when my symptoms first started. I've had 16 visits with Joe, and have had significant improvement. I have fibromyalgia and recently serious swallowing problems. Joe is the only one who has provided me some relief from my worsening conditions. I highly recommended Joe, even if you have visited other acupuncturists before.

In case you're afraid of or uncomfortable with needles, Joe inserts the needles fast and easily with a light touch, much more so than other providers I have visited long ago. He is patient and will answer all of your questions.

I have been coming to see Joe Voss for the last 8 months for anxiety that I acquired due to an auto accident. I am happy to announce that my anxiety has been completely taken care of. I feel like my old self and am continuing treatment just for my over all wellness. Joe has been accomadating and a great energy to be around. I have been going to north county acupuncture for about a month now, I have already seen significant results. I went for knee pain, and digestive problems, and have seen nothing but improvements since. I would recommend Joe, and north county acupuncture to all my friends and family.

Joe is truly an amazing, caring person. He goes above and beyond for you as a patient. We brought our 12 year old son in for his sinus problems, and he felt better the minute we left his office. The next day sinus pressure completely gone. My son gets sinus problems often and it always lasts a week, always. But for the first time ever after seeing Joe, it was gone and he only just stated his week of pain. Truly amazing! I HIGHLEY RECOMMEND if you have any kind of problem of the body/mind you call Joe first. My family is truly grateful for finding him.

On a last ditch effort I called Joe at North County Acupuncture to see if he could accommodate my wife's acupuncture needs. Not only did he take her in on such short notice, but he even stayed slightly longer just to see us. I can't express how thankful I am to Joe and how amazing of a human he is! Joe is a great acupuncturist, and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I started seeing him about 5 months ago due to jaw clenching, neck stiffness, and trouble sleeping. Since I've been seeing Joe, my physical symptoms have improved greatly, and I've been sleeping better than I have in a long time. Joe is great at tracking your health, asking you thoughtful questions, and helping to put you in a better place both physically and mentally. I can't recommend him highly enough. If you're in need of acupuncturist, give him a call!

I have had low back issues since I put my back out at age 16. I am now 41. In 2009 I had a very bad incident with my back during a stressful time in my life when a family member was dying of cancer. I was down for over a month, and since I am a yoga teacher it was affecting my income. I finally got an MRI and a diagnosis of bulging lumbar discs and spinal stenosis, both central and foraminal.

That is when I turned to Dr. Voss for help. He does a complete health assessment on your first visit, which is complementary, and then outlines treatment plans that you can choose from depending on your budget, time allowance and personal preference. It was a time commitment on my part, and you get a significant discount if you prepay.and for me, the prepayment made me stick to my commitment of making the appointments!

He warned me that the results don't happen overnight, especially with such an old injury.and there was more than just the acupuncture treatments, I also was given herbs to help with chronic low back pain. My back is 90% better than when I first saw Dr. Voss.and what is even better than that, he put me on herbs to strengthen my adrenals, which I didn't even know were off until he tested me.

I just thought I was super tired. I used to know my menstrual cycle was coming because three days before it arrived my lower back was so unstable I could hardly walk. Now my back is so stable it surprises me every month! The other nice benefit of my treatment plan was each session he would check in with me and see how I was feeling. In the midst of treatment my old knee injury was aggravated, so Dr. Voss would treat that as well.

Then when my depression raised it's ugly head, he would address that.all with no extra charge. Dr. Voss is interested in the whole health of his patients.not just band aiding certain symptoms. I truly respect him as a healer and refer my clients to him whenever I am asked for a referral.not something I take lightly.

I went to see Dr. Voss after my podiatrist told me I would need foot surgery again. Within a short period of time, Joe was able to alleviate my foot pain -- I'm happy to say that foot surgery is not in my near future! Joe has also helped me address other issues like stress and insomnia. He's very knowledgeable and has helped me incorporate herbs into my diet and has helped me address different issues in my life in a whole new way. He's very friendly, professional and personable -- a great guy -- and I would highly recommend making an appointment for whatever ails you!
