Wally Doggett and his wife Kelly met in acupuncture school and started South Austin Community Acupuncture together in 2006. The clinic grew out of a desire to create a neighborhood clinic that represents a natural expression of ourselves into the community we live in. We value diversity. We work to create a safe and comfortable environment for all members of our community.

All are welcome here, regardless of income, education, language, race, skin color, nationality, legal status, sex, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, familial situation, age, religion, political beliefs, abilities or disabilities, size or shape.

South Austin Community Acupuncture offers affordable acupuncture in a comfortable group setting. Wear clothes you can easily pull up above your elbows and knees, and if you have a specific part of your body you want us to work on please wear something so we can access that part of your body. Especially your feet: You will be treated in a room with other people and your practitioner will be touching you. Many people are sensitive to smells, and oils and lotions make needling difficult and can ruin our sheets.
Community acupuncture works because our patients treat the clinic like a shared resource they really care about. This can vary quite a bit from person to person, but more often than not, you will need some kind of course of treatments for best results. For example, for an acute problem you might get a few treatments scheduled closer together for a short time.
We are located in Cherry Creek Plaza at 5700 Menchaca Road, Suite 300 (in the former City of Austin Municipal Court space). We are tucked up in the corner of the complex between South Austin Gym and Calvary Church. That's where you'll find us!

I had pain in my lower back and went to a chiropractor twice. The pain had not gone away and the guy said I needed to come back another 9-12 times. With one visit to Wally, the pain went away. Very peaceful and relaxing environment, and I felt safe with all the precautions they take during covid. Highly recommended.

I've been an ongoing patient for several years now (this review is long overdue). First off, I can't begin to say how excellent Wally and the team are. My first ever acupuncture appointment/consultation was with Wally years ago, and he was professional, kind, patient, and LISTENED to what I had to say. Sara is remarkable as well. She takes her time with me each time I go in, and I always leave feeling so much better than I walked in.

I switch off between seeing Sara and Wally, and they are both top-tier providers. There has not been a single appointment in which I felt rushed. Of course, the team being amazing isn't all of it. I have had back injuries that impede my day-to-day life and was desperate to get help. Acupuncture was my last resort, and the relief I got was genuinely impressive. LOVE South Austin Acupuncture and will continue to recommend it to all my friends/family!

With knowledgeable, kind staff; a sliding payment scale; and a relaxing environment; South Austin community acupuncture is a gem. I suffer from carpal tunnel and tendinitis from my work as a musician and Wally knew exactly how to help. Thank you!

Best acupuncture clinic in Austin. Awesome hospitality and patient care. Have visited couple of times and had good experience. The therapist listens patiently to ailment and provides the treatment precisely. Continuous visits are required for long term cure. Therapist also suggest additional medicines along with acupuncture for the cure. Will recommend this place to try out alternate cure for long term ailments.

From the time I called the staff was professional warm and inviting. The practitioner Sarah was very knowledgeable. I've had acupuncture all over the world for many decades and I was impressed that I didn't even feel the needle's. She gave me some herbs and I will definitely go back and refer many. Feeling better and grateful I found this place; Relaxing and affordable.

I found this place last week when I was looking for relief from vertigo, after going through several conventional doctors who couldn't find a solution for me and kept giving me expensive runaround. As an unemployed person who has been searching for a job for some time now, my finances were tight and my stress was high. I came across this place through a google search because I had experienced community acupuncture before and I liked the simplicity and affordability of such places.

I made an appointment for the next day and showed up to find a clean and calming office space. You fill out some forms for the first time and then there is a consultation to discuss your goals and challenges. Then you're led into a large room that has nine comfortable recliners. These recliners are covered by thick blankets so they are replaced for each client (meaning: clean for you).

You sit back and let them work their magic. They are happy to drape you with a cozy blanket if you get cold easily. When you are ready to go (or after a set amount of time during busy hours), they'll take out all the acupuncture needles and you just need to pay and be on your way. They do have cupping services and private rooms. I haven't experienced them so I'm not sure how they work.

You can call or email and ask about it. Wally was easy to work with and warmed up with me the more I came. I saw some reviews where Wally or his team members didn't really acknowledge clients when they came in. I got the vibe that it was more of, "I'm not ready to talk, " as perhaps they had clients that took up a lot of their time in the past (perhaps took advantage of or challenged them) and created a backlog of other clients who were waiting and being patient.

But the moment they were ready to talk, they were very warm and open. Their sliding scale worked perfectly for my financial situation. Their recommended herbs were affordable as well. It was a relief in this challenging time in my life. Thank you, Wally & team! See you soon.

I went for my first visit last week and had fire cupping and a full acupuncture session done. I felt almost no pain and seriously fell asleep for both treatments. I have chronic low back and shoulder pain due to my line of work as a hairstylist. I left their office feeling pretty great, with being a little tender on my cupping spots. I slept like the dead that night and woke up without the normal aches I seem to experience on the.

I will be going back on the regular as I love this new found place in South Austin. FYI if you get cupping plan to not show off your back for about a week as I still look like someone attacked me with a tiny pancake =

I went to South Austin Community Acupuncture for six years and had I not moved out of state, I would still be going. Wally and Erica have seen me through the ups and downs of life. The reception area is clean, organized, and quiet. The no cell phone policy is great and gives everyone room for quiet reflection before treatment. The main treatment area has about 12 lazy-boy recliners.

Each recliner is covered with a sheet so you can feel comfortable in a clean space. The lights are dim, the music is low, and the room is quiet except for a little snoring. There are plenty of blankets if you get cold like I do. I've slept from as little as an hour to almost four hours more than a few times. They'll wake you if you have a time constraint, just let them know. Otherwise, feel free to snooze the day away (you probably needed it anyway).

The acupuncture you receive here is with your extremities. Arms (elbow to fingers), legs (knee to toes), and head. For more involved therapy (like cupping or moxi or back points) there are two private rooms. Lastly, the hours of operation and price are great. The two hardest parts most people have with acupuncture are: 1) its expensive and 2) fitting appointments into your busy schedule are tough. Both are covered here. They're open 7 days a week and it's a sliding scale. Give them a call!

This place is great. The atmosphere is very clean, relaxing and comfortable. I've been seeing Wally for about a month now. I was new to acupuncture before coming in for my first visit. I wasn't sure how I'd react to the needles but it's no biggie at all. My first session I was so relaxed I slept for almost 2 hours! It was really rejuvenating. If you're having trouble sleeping, allergies, anxiety, stress etc. I recommend taking a trip to see Wally or Mike.

I had never done any sort of acupuncture before, and I was pretty nervous about it.but i just had to try it! I showed up and told them that I had not yet eaten that day (FYI: it's important to eat before you go!) and they were so nice that they gave me whole grain toast with peanut butter on it from their own private snack stash! The place had a very chill atmosphere and very comfy chairs.

I had a cupping procedure done on my lower back and acupuncture all over my body. My back hadn't felt so great in such a long time! I fell asleep with the needles in me and everything. I highly recommend this place. Everyone there was happy and helpful and nice, the atmosphere was great, and procedures are so much cheaper in the group setting! Some might be put off at the thought of others in the room with them during the acupuncture, but I really didn't even notice them because I was so relaxed. I'm setting up my second appointment right now!
