Chinese herbs are similar to acupuncture in that they are designed to be specific to the individual they are prescribed for and treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. Chinese herbs can be used in conjunction with acupuncture or alone. There are hundreds of herbs that we can use in combination to design custom prescriptions for each patient. The dosages of herbs are easily adjusted to tailor to the patients change in progress and condition. Herbs are very effective in treating difficult long standing conditions.
Acupuncture is defined as the insertion of slender needles through the skin at specific locations on the body to elicit a therapeutic response. Acupuncture is used to balance the body's energy or qi (chi) to regain optimal health. Qi is considered our vital life force. It flows through channels/meridians in our bodies. Disease inhibits the flow of qi in our bodies. Stress, emotions, physical injury/trauma, constitutional weakness, diet, or the environment can cause this. Acupuncture corrects the imbalances within our bodies by stimulating certain points on the body where the qi comes closest to the surface (acupuncture points).
To The Point Acupuncture opened back up on 5/1! We have spoken to many of our patients since our temporary office closure on March 23rd. Most of you have been doing well, but there are patients who would significantly benefit from having acupuncture treatments at this time. Though we did take a little hiatus, Acupuncturists are considered essential healthcare providers in the state of NC. We are able to provide treatment options for patients such as pain relief, treatment for anxiety and depression, immune system support, etc. keeping patients out of otherwise busy medical facilities such as Emergency rooms and Urgent care.
