Each person who walks through these doors is unique. Given that, I set aside the standardized, goal-oriented approaches so common in courses, fitness centers, trainings, and life-coaching; those approaches that urge you to strive for some sort of goal or some better way of doing things. Instead, I ask that you come as you are and explore your innate ability to be more at home with yourself and lean earnestly toward your life's deepest intentions. I invite you to learn more about your earnest motivations as they become fuel for you to move forward in your own unique way.
Though I continue to offer a number of unique programs here, my classrooms are also a venue for a few other professional teachers whom I respect. They use my classrooms to teach their unique classes and workshops. Though I list some of their offerings on my calendar please check with them directly for details about their diverse programs elsewhere.
What is offered here is a skilled, professional complement to your personal growth and intentions, medical care, organizational goals, therapy, and self-care; mindfulness trainings, weekly yoga classes & therapeutic workshops, life-coaching, organizational training and coaching.
My mindful hatha yoga courses are described below. Please note that my description of classes as 'mindful yoga' is not a particular brand or school of yoga as much as it is a description of my way of teaching as influenced by many years of personal practice and teaching mindfulness-based trainings; details here.

I took a course in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Brant for eight weeks. My girlfriend recommended it to me a a graduate herself. I will admit that I was skeptical at first. Summary version - it changed my life. How I see the world, my interactions in this world and how I react in life. My blood pressure dropped, my stress dropped and how I deal with day-to-day challenges changed dramatically. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Brant is amazing!

As a long time member of Yoga Hillsboro, I have been attending Brant's online yoga classes while sheltering during this pandemic. These classes, in addition to the evening 15-min meditation he is providing our community, have been some of my most treasured moments of relaxation and centering for my body and soul. His in the moment, live voice, mixed with guided presence and beautiful poetry, gives a nourishment so needed right now. I highly recommend this studio!

This place is much more than a yoga studio, to me, it feels like a warm, welcoming community and a safe place. Brant is a genuine, compassionate person who works with you to establish the best and most comfortable practices for you. The classes and MBSR course provide great opportunities to explore your yoga practice, different types of movement, and a quiet place to consider new pathways as life takes us in different directions than we'd expected. I highly recommend Yoga Hillsboro and the MBSR practice. Try a drop in yoga class and check it out!

I took Brant's class (MBSR ) a few years ago and found it to be very helpful in learning how to accept (even welcome) difficult emotions. Brant's voice is very calming; even now, if I think of his voice, I find myself settling down and relaxing. I highly recommend this class.

Brant was a fabulous teacher! I learned to breath and to know what it was like to be completely relaxed! The money was so worth it and would fully recommend this class! Thank, Camille Rawlins

I took the MBSR program with Brant and have continued with the studio for yoga. It was a great program for me. and I am not a very touchy-feely- warm and fuzzy sort of person. a bit of a skeptic. I committed to being open to the experience and found it to be great- helped with my general stress and I sleep better. Be aware that the building is old and outdated and this is a no-frills environment. but you're not there to study interior design and your eyes are often closed. Perfect for the needed application. My 15-year-old daughter also took the class with me, she got less out of it than I did, but it was still valuable.

Brant is a talented yoga instructor and leader for MBSR! I have worked with him for 12 years, and continue learning. He is encouraging, honest, and creates an atmosphere of trust and growth, both physical and emotional.

I took the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course from Brant several years ago and it affirmed my practice in meditation and gave me new skills that helped change my orientation to the present moment. I learned how to better be present in my interactions with others, how to pause and notice before jumping into an habitual reaction. Brant's MBSR course also led me to become a teacher of mindfulness because I saw the power in sharing the practice with others. Brant is a kind and gentle man who has vast experience. It seems his goal is to share that selflessly with others to make the world a better place.

Having been to several yoga studios in the greater Portland area and having been through the Hillsboro Yoga MBSR program I found Brant's teaching to be exceptionally well balanced, down-to-earth and engaging. Brant's experience and knowledge is considerable. He teaches by presence and example.

My young adult daughter introduced me to this place almost 10 years ago and I've been going ever since and although she's out of state now, she goes with me whenever she can during her visits. I also took the MBSR class. All of Brant's offerings have transformed my approach to life. It's about mindfulness; who needs to add another goal-oriented activity to their life? I sure don't (I get enough of that in my regular exercise and work routines)! This is just the mental and physical break my body and soul crave and need.

I'm 29 and this has been my go to yoga place for 10 years. My mom used to take me to her yoga classes growing up and yoga Hillsboro is the place we continue to go to. If you're looking for a quality yoga practice that focuses on proper form and mindfulness then this is your place. I have been able to improve my technique and strength but I've also been able to improve my mindfulness and reduce my stress.

This is the place to go if you feel stressed and are looking for like minded every day people to call your yoga buddies. I'm very active and I enjoy the beginning and intermediate classes. Brant is wonderful at walking you through each step and will assist with any adjustments if it hurts or is uncomfortable. Brant even understands when I'm feeling extra strong and I do a little more than what he's teaching. I've even taken a lower back class that helped me through lower back pain.

This yoga practice has helped me through a couple car accidents and general tight sore muscles. Helpful tips: Take off your shoes by the door when you first enter Parking is around the back Changing room is in the back corner with hooks for your bags etc Bring an open mind and an open heart!

This is my favorite yoga spot. I've been going regularly after getting hooked on their holiday/December special! While it may not be the swankiest studio, they have all the yoga props you need. Here's what I like about Yoga Hillsboro: *Excellent instructors: these folks know their stuff. Marie is also a physical therapist so she understands injuries and can modify the poses for your ability.

This is way way above the taking-yoga-at-a-gym caliber of instructor. I realized I had been doing some of the poses wrong-- it's finally clicking! *Non-competitive: unlike a lot of other yoga classes I've been to, this class is really low key, uncompetitive. Class mates are nice and understanding and I never feel pressure to do more or impress others.

With that said, I can always get a challenge too! *Convenient location: right in the middle of downtown Hillsboro, so I can go to the farmers market or other spots after class. Never have trouble parking either. *Convenient class times: many of the classes are scheduled after work times so I can fit in classes easy *Generous & simple class make up policy: if you miss a class you can visit a different class during the term. *Good pricing: $80 for one class a week for the 10 week term, so $8 per class. This is better or on par with other yoga places, but easier to make up the classes and a better experience.

Nice yoga instructors who really listen. Studio space was more of a martial arts style dojo with a mat-floor. More of a therapeutic-yoga type place for those with injuries, into meditating and partner yoga with plenty of kumbaya spirituality. For those who are into more vinyasa flow type classes, Ashtanga and power yoga, definately not the place. I do wish they offered classes like that there as I find myself commuting to Portland to get a fix.

We were in town for a week visiting the in-laws, and decided to do yoga for the first time since our kid was born 15 months ago. We really enjoyed it. The location downtown is convenient, the studio was okay, and the instructor (Brandt) was a nice guy. The next time we are up in OR, we will look to do yoga here.

A restful green-washed environment inside a vintage Main Street location easy to reach by the MAX, Yoga Hillsboro offered me peace and relaxation one recent afternoon after a particularly wound-up week. Brant, one of the owners, had rescheduled a 1:1 session with me after I had had to cancel on one a month before due to travel. I'm looking to return to yoga after a leg break a few years ago and I wanted to have a conversation with someone ahead of time to make sure I understood Y-H's philosopy and asanas before I risk embarassing myself in a class of gently understanding strangers.

It was a great session. Brant was patient while I blurted through my recent physical limitations and concerns. He then guided me through specific postures to stretch those areas while reinforcing that I follow the cues my body sends telling me I've reached my best position. He then walked me through a beginner's flow which felt great, my lethargic and fleshy muscles waking up to realize I was greeting them and expecting a hello in return.

It felt mentally freeing just holding the poses, while breaths, not seconds counted time. After paying the $50 for a 1 hour session, I walked out of the building with a beginning routine augmented by the therapeutic postures that I'll be able to use over the holidays until the next term starts in January. Plus I signed up for a yoga session FREE to the community on New Year's Day (call first to register). Imagine having to relax after the holidays. Who can relate? I can report back after classes begin.
