I'd always wanted to try yoga but was scared. I'm not athletic by any means and am quite stiff. But I've been yearning to increase my strength and balance. Through a friend's recommendation I ended up here. I'm so glad! As a beginner you take a set of 5 beginner classes where you learn all the basics. You can stay at beginner level as long as you feel the need and then move up to the next level.

The institute is very chill. There is no pressure and the teachers are truly there to assist each and every student with their poses. The environment is friendly and welcoming. There is no spiritual practice that is emphasized or pushed. You are encouraged to achieve your best for your inner and outer well being. Coming here at least once a week has become an essential part of my routine. I love it!

I was told this was Bubbie yoga, and while the demographic seems to trend that way, the students were all in extremely good shape, which is probably the effect of their practicing at this very friendly studio.

I came to the studio having no idea what yoga was about. While you can take a lifetime to begin to learn about yoga, you quickly realize that this is a special place where there are no judgements and all are welcome. Excellent studio and instructors

Bobbi Goldin and staff have been sharing the benefits of yoga since yoga became mainstream. They teach with intelligence, precision, and joy. This is a sanctuary of real yoga with classes geared to all levels. If you are interested in cultivating a meaningful yoga practice, this is the place to go. They also offer high quality workshops, and have a mini boutique with one of a kind treasures. But the real treasure is this authentic space and community.

I took the beginners class many years ago, and didn't really realize what a gift it is. I thought the classes were a bit too slow and that I did not get the good "work out"that I wanted. So then I tried yoga at about ten different places with various teachers, and eventually traded my yoga time slots for dance classes. Looking back, I thought I had good form because instructors rarely helped me make corrections.

But I realize now good form takes quite a while to master, so I wasn't really getting the full benefit from my classes -- nor from yoga! Fast forward 8-10 years I wanted to resume some yoga, but after hip replacements, and after hearing a story of a woman who dislocated her implant during a yoga class, I knew the only place in town for me was back to The Yoga Institute.

Any serious student should really learn not just the poses, but how to make the corrections to your poses. And you will be taught how to self correct and feel the difference- which helps you remember. It is slow because each students physical abilities are considered, but you are mainly holding the poses while the instructor helps individuals. To me, there's no sense doing yoga if you aren't 100% serious about proper form. I'm still in the beginning series, but remember last time being shocked to be able to do a headstand in the beginning series. You will learn so much that I highly recommend taking the beginning series. They also have yoga for teens.

In Miami there are a thousand places to practice Vinyasa, and many that do some sort of hot yoga. This place is all about the Iyengar method of Hatha yoga and stresses form and posture. The teachers will work closely with you and you will learn a lot about your body and your capabilities. This type of yoga is great companion to a meditation practice, and it's great for people recovering from many types of injuries, or if you haven't moved in a long time. This is NOT yoga booty ballet, a lot of the students are older (alhtough there is usually a nice mix of ages), anyone should feel welcome here.

This studio is amazing! It has become more of a family then some studio and that's because the way teachers treat their students! All the teachers have great experience and really take care and pay attention to each and every student. I have severe back problems and have learned here to deal with it on daily bases. These Iyengar yoga teachers an teachings have changed the way I live with back problems. I highly recommend this place!

I came to Bobbi's studio in 2008. And I've never left! Having done yoga prior to that, I had some idea of my flexibility but I had no body awareness as to proper form, balance and alignment. She and the other instructors take time to listen to me and ensure that I am reaping the most from the pose, even if it's a modified one. If you haven't, try a class with each of the instructors so you can learn something different from each of them! It's a great studio, the students who go are a community, and the overall feeling is welcome.

When it comes to decide where to learn yoga, the personality of yoga teacher matters to me the most. Lahla is my yoga teacher at YIM. She just is absolutely wonderful! She always cares about you first, not about the money. She speaks affectionate language. Never ever I saw her use any harsh words. She is a yoga professional who knows a lot of yoga terms and techniques.

But she always makes it easy for her students by explaining simply the terms and correcting your yoga practice directly (not just tell you do this do that and leave you alone). Lahla is very open-minded, she teaches you but she loves to learn from you too. It is difficult to describe her kindness in a short review but just so you know, I drive an hour in the traffic from my home to her yoga place just to learn yoga with her, I just can not find any nicer teacher than her. I wish Lahla and her family the best of the best!

Every yoga studio has at least one student that is known to every teacher and the other practitioners because his or her name is called out by the teachers in their effort to assist the poor student to become better at yoga. I can proudly say I am that student at the Yoga Institute of Miami. When I first started attending classes approximately five years ago, I had the joy of hearing each teacher compassionately say I scared them.

Through the patient guidance of the Yoga Institute's outstanding teachers, most notably Bobbi Goldin, my yoga has steadily improved and I look forward to each class knowing that I am helping my body deal with the aging process. The proof of my improvement was revealed in the past year when my travels allowed me to attend yoga classes at other studios and I could follow the poses without a single teacher asking me my name.

I remember being told by Bobbi years ago that, as we age, we need to be more specific and careful about how we place our body in the universe. I have taken this message to heart, in both my yoga practice and my life. The attention to detail and care for the individual student that the instructors at Yoga Institute of Miami dedicate to each student have made me stronger, more flexible, better balanced, and able to breath easier in the chaos of life.

Each teacher brings something different to the practice. The beginner series is an essential starting place for every yoga beginner, in my opinion. The welcoming atmosphere at the studio, great assortment of retail yoga clothing, and superb quality of instruction make this the only place I will practice yoga in Miami.

I first came to the Yoga Institute of Miami in the fall of 2015. Having never done serious yoga before and having just recovered from several orthopedic surgeries, I was a little apprehensive. I was drawn to Iyengar yoga specifically because I felt that its emphasis on proper form and alignment would help my body heal. The studio's excellent instructors, each of which have something unique to offer, all helped me get better in different ways.

Everyone is so welcoming, kind, and accommodating. Yoga is in and of itself beneficial not just physically but also emotionally and mentally- and the instructors at this studio make it even more so. I'm so glad I decided to try it out and can't imagine I'll ever stop going.

Over 10 years ago, I moved to Miami, and while I did my review of the yoga scene, I found that Iyengar yoga and the Yoga Institute of Miami was a great place to continue my practice in the new city. If you practice or want to practice Ivengar yoga style, Bobbi Goldin is the most knowledgeable in this market.

The best! This is a great place for beginners to learn the basics. There are many classes for intermediate and advanced students as well, seven days a week, reasonably priced. I've tried classes with seven of the teachers - they each have their own style and take on the Iyengar form of yoga, but all are excellent and emphasize proper alignment in the poses.

They demonstrate, thoroughly describe how to do each pose, and help students with hands-on adjustments, if needed. Care is taken to teach students to listen to their bodies. If you learn poses here and want to experiment with other types of yoga, you'll know how to protect yourself from injury. I highly recommend this studio! Have fun while you learn!

Back in 2005, my wife and I decided to try Iyengar yoga with Bobbi Goldin at the Yoga Institute of Miami. As a beginner who runs, bikes and plays tennis regularly, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the yoga practice, in large part because of the positive spirits and camaraderie of the students and instructors. Through the years, my yoga practice has helped improve my posture, flexibility, stamina and breathing, to name just a few of the benefits. Bobbi is a great instructor who has given me many valuable pointers through the years.

She is very responsive to the needs of each student, and every class is different, making the practice more enjoyable. If you're considering yoga to improve your health and fitness, you'll be in good hands with Bobbi Goldin!

Great, relaxed atmosphere. Classes of all levels -I'm a beginner so that is all I can comment on, but I'm very happy with the instruction and the time they take to make sure I understand and am doing the poses correctly. Reasonable prices and a variety of times and classes.

I have been a student of the Yoga Institute for fifteen years. I go two to three times a week. I used to have terrible lower back problems and weak knees, and now I don't thanks to the excellent instruction from Bobbi and her team. Bobbi is a senior Iyengar teacher with almost 40 years of experience who's studied directly under BKS Iyengar. She keeps up to date with her own practice and yoga studies, and continually passes her knowledege on to us.

Although her classes are very serious, the energy and atmosphere of the room is always light and playful. There's real joy in my practice as she nurtures a real sense of community

This is an excellent yoga studio for yogis of all levels. Instructors really take the time to observe individual students and help each person improve the postures. I really appreciate their mindful approach to yoga. If you just want to "Zen out" and flow from pose to pose, this may not be the place for you.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! If you want want to learn about yoga and the proper way to do the poses, this is the right place to go. The Yoga Institute is unlike any other yoga studio I have been to in South Florida. Most yoga studio, I feel, function like a yoga performance: instructors standing in the front of the room showing you what the pose should look and take very little, if any time, to adjust you.

At the Yoga Institute, they truly teach you, showing you, often times physical moving you, and giving you the props to make the smallest adjustments to help you find proper alignment. I always leave the class feel like I've learned something! This place is great for any yoga student or teacher that want to move deeper into their practice!

If you want to learn yoga in an established school, this is the place for you. From beginners to intermediate students, Iyengar offers a systematic approach to the art and science of yoga. Spearheaded by Bobbi Goldin, this is where yoga teachers go to learn. The teachers here are friendly, and under the tutelage of Bobbi, they deliver the highest teachings of yoga. Just take a look at Bobbi, and you'll be inspired to follow her lead. She is strong, vibrant, and graceful.

Great yoga studio. They have everything you need to do yoga right in the studio. Mats, props, etc. So if you decide you decide to stop in after work you don't have to bring a thing. The clients are older then at other yoga studios, but they are experts. I am in my 30s and I am always impressed by their postures and I usually come home a little sore. Everyone is much better than I am! It is good exercise and there is a healthy feel to the organization. Not a gimmick, real yoga.

Love this place! I've never been to a yoga class where the instructors are so involved with the students, especially, with posture and proper movement. They also take the time to address students with issues such as bad knees etc. Wish I had discovered this place years ago.

I have been looking for a place in South Miami to do Yoga. I was so excited when I found the Yoga Institute, unfortunately they don't do Vinyasa Flow Yoga. Here at the Institute, they practice Iyengar yoga which is a bit slower than Vinyasa. Vinyasa focuses on the flow of movements and you can actually get a good sweat from it. Iyengar is more about using props to help you attain certain positions with attention to posture.

Its a great studio in the same plaza as The Gardner's Market with plenty of parking. They offered classes from beginners to intermediate and from tweens to adults. Very friendly staff, I just wished they offered Vinyasa.
