John Power incorporates sports medicine, sport performance training and movement education into a multidisciplinary, holistic approach to fitness training. Every client has a unique body and life with specific wellness goals. John focuses is on optimizing safe and effective exercises for each individual. Movement education is the process of self reflection, exploring movement, body awareness and sensation. Injuries, cognitive/physical habits and poor movement skill can negatively impact movement efficiency contributing to patterns of pain and inhibit sport performance.

Personal Training
Report
Musculoskeletal injuries and pain can have complex symptom presentations with multiple factors spanning physiology, anatomy and psychology. One modality or therapeutic technique is often marginally effective in treating many injuries because of these multiple factors; chronic pain being one of the most complicated and challenging client populations I work with.
Workshops
Report
I teach functional exercise classes on a regular basis in my office and in the Fitzwilly's Building in the Upstairs Studio. Class size is limited and priority is given to current and previous clients. I am currently teaching 2 classes per week, Mondays and Fridays 12:00/noon - 1:00PM. These classes run in a 6 week series and are ongoing throughout the year.

Sports Injury Rehab
Report
Sports injury rehab is the main focus of my work with athletes. Sports injuries can be complex with multiple factors. I review their training program and exercise routine, I look at how running shoes fit, where their knee tracks while riding a bike and how lower body rotation contributes to efficient throwing motion w/baseball players.
