We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 6 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such as snail bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.
Our goal is to restore your animals health with gentle and nontoxic methods which assist the body's own healing ability. We are a full service integrative veterinary practice, blending holistic and traditional treatment methods for your animal's best health.
Our goal is to provide affordable high quality care for your animal, using a holistic approach which respects the natural healing ability of each individual, and to help you find the best way to maintain wellness for them. This is done with little reliance on drugs, and emphasis on nutrition, supplements, and natural forms of treatment as of primary importance.
Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Todd trained in Wildlife Science and Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University. Dr. Todd worked in a small and large animal practice, as military/ public health veterinarian in the US Air Force and Army, and as veterinarian for USDA. Dr. Todd enjoys helping people with their animals, especially finding healthy solutions to their problems, focusing mainly on nutrition and homeopathy.
Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately.

Dr. Todd and his staff are absolutely the best. After being diagnosed with a grade III heart murmur from our standard vet, I was told my 5 year old anxious/aggressive dog would need to go to a Cardiologist and spend thousands on tests and scans. Skeptical, I did some digging and was recommended to Dr. Todd from a trusted source, even though we are out in Chicago, IL.
About a year and a half ago, I set up an initial phone consultation, and was sent some supplements to my house to try to help curb any side effects. When we finally made the 3hr drive out to Animal Wellness Center, the staff was kind and welcoming (even though I almost missed the hour time change) and the space was clean and open. My dog often lunges and barks at strangers, which can lead to stressful vet visits, but Dr. Todd was relaxed and patient enough to make everyone feel at ease.
I am happy to report that my dog no longer has the murmur or any other signs of health problems! Combine with training, diet change, and seeing Dr. Todd, this girl is happier and healthier than ever!

Great vet services. I will say I do prefer doctor Todd as he is more of a talkative, less serious person. I did not have a great grooming experience though. I have always groomed my dogs myself and felt I did a better job. I asked for a hygiene trim. One of my poms it doesn't really matter, but my male pees all over himself. He didn't seem to have any fur shaved at all. Also, the groomer canceled on me, so I had to reschedule.
Then I brought them in, and had a different groomer anyways due to the lady I had originally couldn't make it again. I understand things happen just wasn't ideal to me. I still give a 5 star because all the staff are friendly and compassionate. They have always been really kind, even when I have made stupid mistakes as a pet owner. Just wanted to include all experiences to be super honest, but didn't feel their reviews needed to take a hit.

We took our cat here when he became lethargic and started wheezing. They just looked at him, didn't run any tests and sent us home with antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection. He finished the medicine and still wasn't better and shortly after died of what I can only assume was feline leukemia. Had they done tests I'm sure I would still have my sweet baby with me today.

I have been using Dr. Cooney for years and he has always been so helpful and given great guidance. I have a handicap dog and along with that comes many health issues. Dr. Cooney is always an email away and willing to help. I live in Texas, but do yearly examines and grooming at Animal Wellness Center whenever I come home. Holistic care is long term relationship. It's not a one pill short term fix and I really appreciate that. Businesses like Animal Wellness are rare, which is why I travel across the country for my dog's health care.

Dr Todd and the entire Animal Wellness Staff were beyond kind, welcoming, and attentive. They helped my pup out and even gave us some free samples. Dr. Todd took his time with us and listened to our concerns. I'm very thankful to have found a place that truly cares for wellness of my pet. Will be telling my friends and family about this place!

I just got home from picking my cat up from getting her spayed. The people there are SO nice and friendly. They even clipped her nails and cleaned her ears out for free without me asking them too! I found my cat, on a busy road and brought her home a couple months ago, so she didn't like me to "mess" with her nails, or ears so this was a HUGE help to me and her.
Also they gave me print outs about care, and other good info. The girl even brought my cat out and stood there and read it over to me while answering any questions I had. I am so glad I found out about this place. It is a great help to cats and people to be able to get access to a low cost spay and neuter clinic on a regular basis because so many animals get put down, or go to bed hungry because no one got them fixed, or they couldn't afford too, or didn't have access to a clinic like this.
I will be taking my other animals there if any issues come up with them because I was so impressed with their care, and service. THANK YOU so very much for having a clinic like this every week for a low cost. You are saving so many lives by offering this service

I can not say enough good things about Dr. Todd Cooney and his staff. My mom's cat Junior had a seizure this weekend, and Dr. Cooney drove 2 hours at 10 P.M. at night to meet her at the clinic to help her beloved kitty. If I could give them a billion stars I would, because they are always there no matter what to help your fur babies. I appreciate this office so much, and they are truly amazing people who truly care about the animals well being verses making a profit. Thank you for all that you do!

Great experience! I brought my rabbit here to get neutered and the service was excellent. The front staff was nice and very knowledgeable. The prices were great. They even cleaned out my rabbit's carrier and put a towel in because they said he looked cold. Long story short, we will definitely be back and my bunny is healing nicely.

This place is wonderful! They are very caring and compassionate. Doctor Todd Cooney is very informative on the best treatment for your animal. He stands firm on not over vaccinating your pet and educates owners on the proven facts. I wish more veterinarians were as much of an animal advocate as he is working on getting and keeping your pet naturally healthy.
