Audubon Yoga Studio Audubon Yoga Studio opened in the Fall of 2000. Classes at the studio are based on the teachings of BKS Iyengar, one of the most influential and respected yogis of our time. Iyengar yoga emphasizes the alignment of the body and building strength and flexibility through precise and mindful work in the asanas (postures). With the use of props, this is a safe yet challenging method of yoga, helping to provide balance and stability of our physical and mental bodies. With the union of body and mind we begin the journey of Self-discovery.

Becky Lloyd is a phenomenal yoga teacher. She is very good at explaining and demonstrating postures. She will say and demonstrate "not this but this." It all makes so much sense and gives us at least the idea of what we should be striving for. She shows the poses from different angles (front view and side view). Becky is also adept at providing individual instruction (Harley, move your left heel out a little more) without interrupting the flow of the explanation of the pose. So, if you want to learn yoga or get better at it, I highly recommend Becky Lloyd and Audubon Yoga.

Great place to learn! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful for any level. If you have an injury, the teacher will modify positions to insure the exercise can still be felt. I recommend highly to anyone.

I moved here from San Diego a few weeks ago, and just started going to Audubon Yoga. In San Diego I went to Corepower, which is a Vinyasa style yoga, while Audubon Yoga is a Iyengar yoga studio. Becky was my instructor for both classes that I've taken. She was very thorough throughout the class, showing how to do the pose, adjusting students as necessary, and explaining how the positions improve or alleviate pain in certain areas of the body.

In just one class, I realized I had been holding a few of my poses incorrectly which could negatively impact my hips, knees, spine, and feet over time! Corepower never explained these things; they may not have even known. Audubon Yoga's instructors are VERY knowledgeable and helpful. If you're looking for a studio where you can increase your strength, balance, and flexibility, and KNOW you're holding the positions correctly - in a way that will enhance your body, not hurt it over time - then I highly recommend this studio. It's a great studio to learn the poses, take a couple classes each week, and continue practicing at home. In just a couple classes, I've already seen improvement. I'm looking forward to standing on my head without the aid of a wall soon. :

Audubon Yoga is an Iyengar yoga studio. The Level One program starts mild enough to be sure you do not do more harm than good. Once the basics are down, Level Two takes things to that next level--more back bends and inversions. They don't turn the heat up to boiling temperatures but you WILL sweat. You WILL be pushed. You will gain strength, flexibility, better posture.

And it will accomplished in ways that are not stressful on your joints. Don't be deceived because it seems "mild"; this can kick your arse. The teachers get to know each student--by name and by limitation or lack thereof. And they will guide you to get the fullest out of your own abilities. And NO MATTER what worries are on your mind when you walk into a class, you will walk out freed of them, if only for an hour or so. Namaste.

My massage therapist recommended that I check out Audubon yoga because they specialize in Iyengar yoga. I am no yogi but my take is that this style uses lots of props (straps, blocks etc) and is really good for realignment when your body is out of wack. From time to time, they offer free classes for newbies so I took a class last week. They were really nice and the teacher was very thorough.

I like the style of yoga but it is not the workout that I'm looking for and for a kind of yoga that places so much importance on form, I thought it was odd not to have mirrors. However, if you are not looking to sweat and burn calories but want to have a more therapeutic exercise session, this is a good studio with excellent instructors.
