Third, to assist and educate a person in living their newfound life, maintaining their optimal level of health, and guiding them in a spirit of cooperation and wellness. To achieve this, I maintain my own life with the highest degree of spiritual growth, integrity, and love for and from my family and my extended family of friends and patients. I strive to maintain myself at the top of my profession by continual study and learning, and by having a deep concern for the health and well-being of my patients.

How long have you been in practice? I started studying natural health care when I was 17, became a macrobiotic chef at 20, a massage therapist at 25. I started my formal education in Oriental Medicine at 28, passed the state board exams at 31, and have been in practice about 20 years. Why did you choose this path?
Modern acupuncture uses sterile, very fine, surgical stainless steel needles slightly thicker than a human hair. The needles are used once on a patient, and then disposed. In trained hands, it is safe, effective and painless. Sometimes, rather than just inserting a needle into an acupoint, your doctor may choose to apply heat to the point, or stimulate it with very low voltage electricity (no more than is generated by a flashlight battery). These techniques are called "Moxibustion" and Electro-Stimulation.

Check out Richard Grossman's latest newsletter discussing autumn from a Traditional Chinese Medicine point of view. It's a different way of looking at the season, and I found it to be both interesting and informative. Dr. Grossman is my acupuncturist, and he is the best. I cannot say enough good things about his knowledge and practice.
