I've had a great experience at the Tao of Wellness. I was new to acupuncture and uncertain if it would help my needs, but I worked with Angela and was truly amazed by the results. Angela, from the very beginning, was supportive, optimistic and taught me a lot along the way. If you're interested in a great clinic and great physician, I would definitely recommend giving it a shot!

I made an appointment over the phone came to my appointment and was told I don't have obe. I'm very upset at the unprofessionalism. No one has free time in LA to waste on driving anywhere for no reason

I have been going to Tao of wellness on and off for 10 years. Just met Angela! She has magical hands & SO sweet. I loved my experiences with both Angela and Dr Mao so far! They are both amazing as I'm sure everyone working here is great!

I saw Angela all through my high risk pregnancy. I felt great and had a healthy pregnancy and I attribute much of that to the treatment I received from Angela. She is fabulous and was able to immediately address any issues I was having. I am now seeing her postpartum to help with healing and nursing. I can't recommend her services enough!

I can't say enough great things about the wonderful people at Tao of Wellness. I've been seeing Dr. Angela for over a year and it's truly been life changing! I had very bad lower back, neck, and shoulder pain which Dr. Angela helped me resolve within my first 3 months of treatment. I also have constant migraines and headaches which she has helped me address through personalized herbal supplement recommendations.

The staff at the front desk is extremely responsive and helpful, and always asks me about my experience when I leave. I feel like everyone I encounter in this office is genuinely happy to be there and cares about my health, customer satisfaction and overall experience. I recommend Tao of Wellness to everyone I know and am pretty shocked to see some of the low ratings below. This place is magical and I highly encourage everyone reading this to go and find out for yourself!

I can honestly say that Angela has saved me from a lifetime of headaches! I used to get really bad migraines and since seeing her for body work (tuina i think it's called?) and cupping and sometimes acupuncture, they've all but gone away. It wasn't just the treatment, but her knowledge and her stretching techniques that have helped in ways I didn't think were possible.

After seeing sinus doctors, allergy doctors, neurologists, specialists for years etc, seeing her has been such a game changer and the only thing I know that has actually helped me prevent going into headache hell for 3 days at a time.

So bummed I have to give such negative feedback here. I've been a patient of the Tao of Wellness for over 20 years. I used to LOVE going. However, since they have moved to their place on 6th street in Santa Monica it has become more of a cattle call clinic cramming patients in than a place of wellness and healing. Everyone at the front desk needs a massive overhaul on customer service training and the doctors need to regroup and go back to what made the Tao of Wellness magical just a few years back, which was caring for the patients.

I understand there may be a lot of demand after COVID so they are busy and may not have as many doctors to accommodate the demand but this has caused a MASSIVE change in their patient care and not for the better. I always feel rushed when I'm there, if I need extra time with them in the room because of my anxiety with needles, I feel they always have 1 foot out the door because they're rushing to another patient.

Maybe their office hours could be extended a few hours versus half days. They used to be open until 5pm versus 3pm. I'm just of the belief patients first. ToW just isn't what it used to be. And it used to be SPECTACULAR! Such a shame. If anyone knows of a great place for acupuncture, I'm open!

I went to Dr Angela because I was having horrible hot flashes. Her treatment recommendation was once a week acupuncture appt along with herbs, and she said it would take 8-12 weeks. After 6 weeks, the flashes were far less severe and after 10, they were completely gone and have remained that way with maintenance. What a wonderful way to put an end to the misery, hormone-free!

I've had good experiences with this office in the past, but this time was rough from beginning to end. 1) During the height of COVID, I arrived to find a very full waiting room with no distancing between seats. We waited outside but observed no attempt by staff to manage the crowd gathering in the waiting room. 2) I had to struggle with staff four times to get a correct bill, from misspelling of name to codes. 3) Finally, I could never get insurance reimbursement because codes where consistently wrong. I've given up. and 4) Dr.

Park treated my teenager but made little effort to explain either treatment (as she was needling him for the first time in his life) or the very adult diet she recommended, so his introduction to acupunture was incredibly poor.

I met with and was treated by Dr. Mao in 2009. I continued with him while in L.A. for the next 3 years. I credit him with having been the major influence in helping me overcome stage 4 colon cancer and all the side effects of chemotherapy. After moving from Los Angeles, I continued at The Tao of Wellness in Newport Beach with Dr. Mao's associate, Jason, and saw Dr. Mao occasionally due to his schedule.

I credit Dr. Mao's expert treatment with not only helping me to survive cancer but also helping me to regain and maintain a strong, healthy body and an active lifestyle. I was so very saddened when he closed his Newport Beach office and only wish my busy schedule allowed me to travel to Santa Monica for treatments.

I did not get any improvements at all- after 3 months of Accupunture. I had spent so much money on treatments and herbs with teas. I also don't trust their herbs. not organic, when you ask them about the herbs they give you vague answers-not made in USA. I think they import them from China. Has no labels so I don't know if pesticides have been used on them. Worried about toxicity. The place is super expensive and does not deliver. Very disappointed!

This review is for me and my son. My 7 yo son has been dealing with eczema since he was 6 months old, and after having tried literally everything (every cream, moisturizer, ointment, prescription medication, steroids, natural lotion, essential oils, etc.) and seen all sorts of doctors, I figured it wouldn't hurt to see someone in acupuncture.

My friend had seen Angela for her daughter who has severe eczema, and recommended I see her for my son. We had to see Angela virtually since we are in the bay area and Tao of Wellness is in Southern CA. She looked at my son's eczema, asked a bunch of questions, and prescribed a cream and tonic for him which they mailed out to us. This was a godsend!

I COULD NOT believe it! 7 years of scratching, bleeding, scabbing, and scratching off the scabs went away! Within a couple weeks, my son's eczema did not show up again. Since earlier this year when we first saw her, my son has had very few flareups, and even then they did not end up bloody and scabby, just slightly red and itchy. When that happens, we put the cream on and it goes away!

As a mother, it made me SO HAPPY and relieved to see my son no longer in pain because of this! Because things worked out so well for him, I decided to try Angela for my own symptoms. I've had a mild case of depression and some anxiety and postpartum thoughts, and I felt my hormones were out of whack. I would wake up exhausted even after 8 hours of sleep, with my eyes red and difficult to open (like the feeling you get when you've only slept 2 hours and have to get up at 4am to go to the airport). Angela prescribed a tonic powder which I'm supposed to take twice a day. Immediately, I felt a sense of relief within the week, specifically when I woke up in the mornings.

My eyes were not as painful to open as before. They were still slightly red, but I think that takes time to get better. The change in my emotions, hormones, anxiety, depression improved slightly within the first month, but now that I'm on month 3 and still on the tonic, I'm feeling MUCH better, which prompted me to want to write this review.

I have already introduced Angela to several of my friends who have gone to her for different issues, and all have been happy with her. Unfortunately, because we are up north, we are unable to meet with her to get acupuncture needles or other methods on the body, and we can only resort to cream and tonics, but those alone have been great for us! Highly recommend Angela!

This review is long overdue! After a failed IVF embryo transfer (and MUCH goading from my Chinese mother) I decided to give CTM and Acupuncture a chance before our next IVF attempt. I chose Tao of Wellness because I had borrowed Dr Dao's book 'Tao of Fertility' from my Fertility Doctor and quite liked it. I was also looking for a Chinese Medicine Doctor that would work well with my Western Doctor (and vice versa).

Less than 2 months after seeing Dr Dao twice a week - I was pregnant with our now 2 month old daughter naturally.at age 40! (WHAT?!?!) Afterwards I continued to see Dr Dao twice a week until about my 20th week of pregnancy. Looking back I always left each acupuncture session feeling relaxed and calm, even while going through a stressful and difficult time in my life.

In lieu of an actual therapist Dr Dao's advice, calming nature and wisdom helped me to address my fears over my pregnancy. He also offered helpful suggestions and questions that I could bring to my Western doctor as well. The staff at Tao is also very friendly, their rooms are clean, the music they play is soothing, the herbs are of excellent quality and not AS bad tasting as I feared (I've had worse).

I paid out of pocket and while it is not cheap, it was a worthwhile investment towards my care and future because I wanted to do everything possible to make my next pregnancy attempt succeed.

Understanding of the whole person as opposed to just symptoms. Dr. Mao is terrific. I usually don't like needles but acupuncture is completely easy with him. The Herbs prescribed are incredibly helpful. The herbs regulate me, and I don't need to take hormones and other western medications that have terrible side effects and / Or are associated with illness/cancer.

I have learned so much about my body and how to stay in touch with the various changes in my body. The staff is polite and approachable. The tea in the waiting room is delicious.

Great wellness center. Dr. Mao is smart, caring passionate and very calming as a healer and doctor. He has been great to work with and I appreciate all that he and his friendly staff has done for me. I would highly recommend coming here for and and all health issues, especially things that traditional doctors can't help you with.

I have been going to the Tao of Wellness for over 6 years and am sorry it has taken so long for me to write a review. I see Dr. Mao Ni at the center and he is a consummate, caring professional, knowledgeable in both western and eastern medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and nutrition. I am a western-trained physician myself, with additional training in acupuncture, so my standards are high! :) I cannot say enough in praise of Dr. Mao, his colleagues, the herbalists in the on-site pharmacy, and the lovely women who are the patient-facing receptionists at the Santa Monica office. Kindness pervades every aspect of the care --from check in, to treatment, to discharge, and the wish to truly help patients and seekers of alternative care is palpable.

The place is spotless and while assuming a clinical air retains somehow a calming atmosphere. My treatments are always wonderful, the needles are painless, and I usually get the added benefit of a much-needed nap after insertion when I doze off listening to a guided meditation, voiced by Dr. Mao himself. Afterwards, I gather myself and float out to the waiting area where I pick up my herbs, if prescribed, and gladly pay the very reasonable fees for the level of care that I receive.

My partner has type 2 diabetes-- under the care of Dr. Mao, he is losing weight, gone VEGAN.yup that's right VEGAN, and is committing to an exercise program.something he was not able to do before, even with my "sage" advice! :)) I have sent many, many friends, family members, work colleagues, former patients, and even strangers who have queried me on where to go for these services.

I have not had ONE person complain about any aspect of their care at Tao of Wellness, to the contrary they usually rave about the place, the care, and their personal outcomes. In these times where professionalism, compassion, and service are too often hoped for but not delivered, you cannot go wrong here.

I went here to treat a stubborn and painful case of hand eczema, having hit nothing but brick walls with traditional dermatologists. This was my first foray into eastern medicine, and my experience at Tao of Wellness was so traumatic that it may well prove to be my last. Long story short, after covering me in acupuncture needles, my acupuncturist turned down the lights, left the room, and promptly FORGOT TO COME BACK FOR OVER TWO HOURS.

There was no clock for me to watch, no way for me to move from the table, no way for me to keep track of time. I know it may seem hard to believe that so much time could pass without me realizing it, but trust me, when you're covered in needles in the dark, your mind isn't exactly in a position to accurately track such things. At any rate, someone finally stumbled on me and retrieved my acupuncturist.

While she was feverishly removing the needles, I asked her how long a typical session lasts. She said a half hour, forty-five minutes. I asked how long I'd been going and she said fifty minutes. She left the room so i could get dressed. I checked my phone. It was OVER TWO HOURS since she'd put me on the table. I had eight missed work calls, because naturally there was tons to do that afternoon and I was expected back at the office.

When I emerged from my room, my acupuncturist was nowhere to be found. I got to the front desk and basically melted down on the receptionist, a first for me. She didn't charge me for the session, I'll give her that much. But overall, I walked out of there feeling totally betrayed and put at risk. So far I haven't felt any side effects from being pinned up for that long (aside from being generally upset/shaken up and unnerved by the experience), but yikes, what if? Bottom line, if you're looking for a place where you can feel safe in your treatment, this may not be the place for you. It certainly wasn't for me.

I have to lay out my chips (stars) and give them a 5 star. I go regularly and schlep over an hour each way to do so because they are that awesome. My physician recommended I see an acupuncturist and after speaking to a few and doing my research, I asked what she thought of Dr Dao, This is her response: "Dr Dao? Well yeah, he is amazing, he is the Gd of acupuncture.

Of course go to him if you can get in." Well I did and I love him. I mean I LOVE him. He is kind, loving, thoughtful, intuitive, patient, elegant in a way and super brilliant at acupuncture. He is the master source from which all other West Coast acupuncturists apparently spring. What more is there to say? I am grateful to be treated by him so well.

There is no downside, he's great. I occasionally will see someone else who he trained because she is also terrific, and it works for me with timing and/or billing. But Dr Dao? He is a true master of his craft and most acupuncturists on the westside would speak very highly and lovingly of him, he is kind of a miracle worker, and has a busy practice. I have sent friends dealing with major and minor issues and I see him with tremendous trust and appreciation. What more is there to say?
