Somatic Movement & Yoga for Mind-Body Freedom
Soma Yoga is a somatic movement education and mindfulness studio founded by Jean Hindle, a seasoned practitioner with over 32 years of experience in Seattle. Our approach integrates Soma Yoga, BrainDance Somatic Education, and ArtWorks Meditation to help individuals achieve freedom in mind, motion, and creative living. We offer personalized private sessions, both in-studio and online, tailored to individual needs through practices like somatic movement education, mindfulness meditation, and guided improvisational techniques. Our public and semi-private classes, including Soma Yoga and SomaYogaDance, emphasize gentle, non-strenuous movement to release chronic tension and enhance agility. Located two blocks from Sunset Park in Ballard, we serve adults, teens, and pre-teens with a focus on neuromuscular re-patterning and nervous system regulation. Our teaching methodology draws from decades of expertise in Hanna Somatics, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, and Buddhist meditation traditions. We prioritize client-centered care, offering flexible scheduling, gift certificates, and a 48-hour cancellation policy for private sessions. Our work is rooted in the philosophy that self-compassion transforms personal and collective well-being. We acknowledge the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish Nations and commit to inclusivity and community support. With a legacy dating to 1998, we continue to provide innovative somatic practices that bridge ancient wisdom with modern science.
